Hey guys just looking for advice on getting a second cat

This is our first cat Millie, she’s a rescue that we adopted at 1-2 years old, we’ve had her for two years and she’s the most cuddly playful cat I’ve ever known.

We have been talking about a second cat for a while now and just want some tips on introducing them and how to make sure we don’t upset Millie, the second cat will also be a rescue, tips on if we should get a boy or another girl, how long to keep them separated and anything else is very welcome.
