Huawei users with phones stuck at the EMUI 14.2 thinking EMUI 15 would make their lives better are fooling themselves.

Huawei users should already know the company was placed on the U.S. entity list, meaning no business with American firms like Google. That’s why Huawei devices don’t ship with licensed Google Android code. If Huawei moves from Android 12 to Android 15, they must reengineer HMS and the entire software stack. The result: users get updated software, but Micro-G integration weakens. Features that worked seamlessly on EMUI 12 or 14.2 lose synchronization until Micro-G catches up.

Take EMUI 14.2, it’s perfectly aligned with Micro-G. You get Google apps, full functionality, even YouTube resolution beyond 1080p, as shown in my Mate 50 Pro video. EMUI 15, despite being smoother and better designed, still runs Android 12 code but lacks the same Micro-G maturity. That means you actually lose quality compared to 14.2. You won't get any YouTube videos with 2000p resolution. This is why Huawei is now fully focused on HarmonyOS, not EMUI.

EMUI updates are a waste of time and money. Stop complaining about them or comparing Huawei to Apple. Apple has one OS worldwide. Huawei, with fewer resources, cannot afford two parallel systems while building independence from Android. If waiting is too much, either buy Chinese ROM devices with HarmonyOS 6.1 for monthly updates or switch brands. Huawei’s path is clear: HarmonyOS is the future, EMUI is the past.
