HarmonyOS 7.0 upgrades the container for western apps to Android 16 from Android 12. Good news for westerners using HarmonyOS. The beta is already available for the newest CN model Mate series and will soon appear on other devices as well. Google services and NFC payments (Curve Pay) have been working for quite a while now as well, contrary to popular misinformation.

For everyone talking about EMUI 16:

The Pura 70 will continue with EMUI 14/14.2 and Pura 80 will continue with EMUI 15.

Why? You may ask. Is simple, there's no improvement in EMUI 16 over EMUI 15 and EMUI 14/14.2. If you watch closely the images already released of the Pura 90 with EMUI 16, you can see the UI is the same of the other EMUIs, Huawei is just making marketing with "releasing" EMUI 16 as they did marketing with the 200MP in a 1/1.28 sensor of the Pura 90 Pro Max.

So, my Pura 70/80, Mate XT/ 80 Pro won't receive 5G and Android 16?

No, all the phones using a Kirin chip WILL reveive 5G and Android 16. If you have a device with a Snapdragon chip, you will receive nothing (this shouldn't be disclosed but well...).

Android 16 is just the base code for compatibility, nothing else.

Galera, tô vendo que o Pura 80 Ultra global saiu com EMUI, enquanto a versão chinesa vem com HarmonyOS. Queria saber se existe alguma forma real de forçar HarmonyOS na versão global, seja por flash, troca de firmware, desbloqueio de bootloader ou qualquer outro método que funcione de verdade.

Minha dúvida é mais técnica mesmo: isso é inviável por bloqueio de região/hardware, ou ainda existe algum caminho para instalar o sistema da versão chinesa? Sei que a Huawei costuma limitar bastante essas coisas, mas queria entender até onde dá pra ir sem ficar no campo do “talvez”.

Se alguém já tentou, ou souber explicar os riscos, compatibilidade e se isso mata atualizações, agradeço. Também queria saber se alguém já viu alguma experiência real com o Pura 80 Ultra global nessa linha. O modelo global roda EMUI 15 e a variante chinesa roda HarmonyOS 5.1, com diferenças de conectividade e software entre elas

4.2 is still android based and can support most apps no? and ive heard that in the middle east theyre selling tablets that have it now. why can't they just release hos 4.2 for phones instead of continuing with EMUI? i don't really get what the downside would be

I'm looking to get a Huawei for months now, but I fear EMUI on the global won't get any more updates and will become a pain to have on a daily basis in a couple of years.

Found the way to get my hands on a Mate 80 pro max with HarmonyOs 6, but how reliable is it for a normal user? I don't mind installing stuff and messing with the phones, but how easy is it to use?

Like social media, video streaming, occasional gaming, on G services i do depend for backups, how will those work

Anyone with HarmonyOS 6 outside China who can provide some info and experience?

I've been using a Huawei nova y61 EVE-LX9 since 2022 the year it came out but it has been buggy since late last year, it also doesn't have any space as it only has 64gb so I'm looking to replace it. I just want to ask if it's worth buying a huawei phone in 2026, and if so which is a reliable and affordable option that has atleast 128gb of storage, and also microG must be compatible. Any input will be appreciated

I asked the arabian store dude, superrmas if emui 16 was coming to other devices and he said that initially it will be pura 90 exclusive but after I asked him if it's possible that it might come later he told me that it's possible but nothing has been confirmed yet so there might be hope
