FINALLY!! You can now have...

your photos backed up automatically with HCloud, yes it's to Google Photos only at the moment, but I tell you what, this is great news for most of you out there.

Been testing for some time now trying to get HCloud to recognize that new photos/videos have been taken, then it will trigger and start backing up in the background, it's main priority for backing up is when the phone is on charge so it doesn't drain your battery when you don't want it to, but this is a milestone for those that can't get cloud storage!

It's official, for real, post ARMv8 fate of EMUI era has been determined by Huawei HarmonyOS 7 release. Goodbye EMUI. Inside HarmonyOS 7 Beta2 SDK release for developers, it reveals LinxISA Kit, that they have to optimize for a post ARM future with upcoming Mate 90 series Tau's Law

Once you have global Mate 90 and Mate X8 series, with Linx ISA, that is it as I have told people, they are not going to backport EMUI downgrade to LinxISA when there is no raw optimization outside native pure HarmonyOS. There is no going back ever! HarmonyOS 7 has now determined the fate of AOSP 12 HarmonyOS 4 tablets and EMUI altogether of EMUI 14.2/15/16 AOSP 12-16 fragmented factory devices.

ARMv8 yeah, Pura 90 series like Pura 90s Series EMUI 16 AOSP 16, the chips right now pre-Tau's Law that are custom ARM based, ARMv8 architecture. HarmonyOS 7 is the first version to shift to new instruction set. HarmonyOS 8 will be the final layer for a true complete graphics stack with in-house Maleoon API
It is what it is. Right now, for now until couple of years down the line, you can continue to buy and enjoy global EMUI and HarmonyOS 4 AOSP fragmented devices with ARMv8 pre-Tau Law Kirin chips as your choice before jumping pure HarmonyOS future at your own pace, pre-September CN/October-December 2026/January 2027 global devices. Future Huawei factory devices with Tau's Law chips will not ship AOSP/Android EMUI and HarmonyOS 4 devices anymore. Ship has sailed 2023-2026 for dual-framework AOSP native code on Huawei devices transitioning, Time is up! The end of transitioning is near. End of!

I want to build a free, native HarmonyOS apps for global user pain points, what tool or GMS replacement do you need most?

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I love Huawei hardware, but relying on containerized emulators (like EasyAbroad, DroidTong, or GBox) for daily global apps can be frustrating with battery drain, delayed notifications, and UI clunkiness.

We’ve seen awesome community projects recently like HCloud (for native background syncing) and HarmoniKeyboard. I’m a developer looking to take on a new side project: building lightweight, native ArkTS/ArkUI utilities specifically for global users who need to bridge the gap without AOSP/Google Mobile Services.

If you're using HarmonyOS natively, what is your biggest daily friction point?

A few concepts I'm tossing around:

  • A background sync daemon for Google Calendar / Contacts via standard CalDAV/CardDAV.
  • A native Google Keep / Tasks desktop widget and checklist app.
  • A lightweight, native audio/video streamer to replace clunky browser wrappers.
  • A local file bridge to pull Google Drive files directly into native WPS Office / File Explorer.

What would make your daily workflow smoother? Thanks!

This is a blog post.

TLDR: This is about a conversation in the Google Issue Tracker about potential future changes. Depending on how they are implemented, these changes could impact Shizuku and other power-user tools. More details and explanations are available in the blog post. 8-minute read. This is not an official announcement and nothing is 100% confirmed yet.

The Kirin X90e will go live next month....

API 24 Kirin X90e MateBook Pro S, smaller MateBook Fold = Non-telephony = PCs (laptops) will be debut in China in August marking global halo devices with PCs in Huawei September event, like Kirin T93 Pro MatePad Pro Max OTA tablets as halo candidate for all 2024-2026 Kirin eligible OTA tablets

Without SBOM on open source core OpenHarmony 7.0, you can forget FULL global HarmonyOS 7 with global carrier services telephony support outside API 19 watches & tablets API 24. EU Cybersecurity requires reporting this September 2026 after 2024 law enacted
