Anyone ever had ECM go bad?

Im wondering if anyone has had an ECM go bad. I have a 1997 4x4 D21 Ka24E.

I have been blowing fusible links for awhile now and am having a hell of a time diagnosing what is causing it to short out. We reset the ECM one time, by unplugging it and it immediately ran fine after that.

Has anyone had a bad ECM and what were your symptoms? Any shorting?

At my wits end with electrical problem

Started blowing the fusible link awhile back. Eventually found out my ignition switch was faulty, and replaced it.

Was fine for awhile then shorted out again. Could not seem to figure out what was causing it. Eventually needed to drain the water accumulation near passengers side, due to it being clogged, which was possibly shorting out the blower motor. My mechanic friend thought that maybe resetting the ECM would be a good idea.

We reset it and then it ran fine. He had put a collapsible fuse in place of the original fusible link, so that if it blew, it could restart once cooled down.

Well one day that blew. And my friend thought maybe the amperage wasn't high enough on that fuse. So I jumpered the fuse with a spade connector, and it ran fine.

I bought a replacement fusible link and put it in, thinking that issue was solved.

Well today it blew again. Stupidly i tried to jumper it again with my old setup, and turned the key and it not only melted the wire at the battery terminal, but all the way up to the ignition swicth it was smoking coming out of my steering wheel.

So now the wire from the fusible link up to the ignition switch is melted apart, and melted into one of the other wires.

Pretty fucked up.

What the fuck do I do.
