wheel bearings

Hey all, just packed my wheel bearings for the first time. google is insistent the the correct way is to seat the bearing (already done) back off the nut, torque it to about 27 foot pounds and then back it off 45 degrees. i have always been taught to do finger-tight on these wheel bearings, and mine were finger tight when i pulled them off. what is the correct method?

New ac drier question

I got a new drier to replace my old one on my 97 pickup but it’s missing the port that the high pressure sensor goes into. I’ve looked online for others but they all seem to be missing it too. Is there a work around or am I screwed here?

First outing with the roof tent on the hardbody pathfinder!

Finally got out to eleven mile for some camping with my new Roofnest Meadowlark XL. It held up to some crazy wind! I was actually really impressed. I was worried about the roof being able to hold the weight too, but it held up no problem (the included extra supports and ladder help quite a bit. Gives me a lot more confidence in the setup)

Camber after Ball Joints and Wheel Bearings

Hello I am seeking the infinite wisdom of the people. I recently did ball joints, shocks, and wheel bearings on my 1991 4x4. Everything is torqued to spec, including wheel bearing preload. Upon lowering it and taking it for a test drive, I have some visible negative camber. At first I thought it was my wheel bearings, so I re-seated them.

My current theories:

  1. Upon adjusting torsion bars, they’re looser than I aimed for (checking right now) and that is causing the LCA to pitch flatter than it was intended to be.

(This doesn’t make a ton of sense to me because the tighter the torsion bars, the lower the LCA points, making the camber more negative??)

  1. Wheel bearing still aren’t seated properly (??)
  2. There is a ghost in the front end and I need to sacrifice a small animal to appease the alignment gods.

I am waiting to get an alignment because I’m doing center link and tie rods next week. Please shower your wisdom upon me!

Brake pedal stop pads

Does anyone know where to buy the brake and clutch pedal stop pads? I can’t seem to find them anywhere. It’s the little rubber pads that push in the sensors btw not the foot pads.

How to remove VG30i fuel injectors?

Pic of my truck for the love. Does anyone have info on how to remove the fuel injectors? I want to send out for cleaning but have no idea how to get them out without yanking the wires. Google and chatgpt have been surprisingly unhelpful.

She's failing smog with high HC/CO only during high load test which I'm told points too rich mixture. Anyone have any ideas? I think I'll replace the O2 sensor, dizzy cap/rotor, and spark plugs/wires just cuz it's been at least 10 years. I'm mostly just checking items off the list before handing it off to a shop that will likely just throw parts at it anyways. Thanks! 🙏🙏🙏

Gear oil going really slow through the shifter

Hi All,

I took the shifter out to put fresh MT90 in the trans on my 89 hardbody. From the videos I’ve seen, the fluid goes in super quick from the top, but it’s taking a suuuper long time to drain down into the trans. Has anyone have experience with it just entering super slowly? I’m alightly worried that somehow this fluid isn’t getting to where it needs to go haha.

Thanks!

Is this factory?

my uncle has a 1987 hardbody with a paint scheme i’ve never seen before. I’m thinking it was a dealer thing, not sure though. It’s also has 4x4 and a vg30i is this uncommon?

If you need to do wheel bearing on a 4x4

I made this tool by buying a locknut socket for GM and filing down the extra tabs. Worked like a charm and was able to properly torque and preload my wheel bearings quickly and accurately!
