Benefits to either recording to Midi vs Record: output?
I’m pretty new to recording drums through MIDI/e-kits and had a question about workflow.
Right now I’m using an e-kit triggering GetGood Drums in REAPER. I can’t really record my acoustic kit at the moment because of money/space/noise limitations, so this is the route I’m going.
I was watching one of Nolly's mixing sessions and noticed he had both the MIDI drum tracks AND separate WAV/audio tracks for the drums in the project.
What’s the benefit of having both? I'm sure Nolly has said this somewhere in his videos, I just haven't come upon it yet.
For context, I’m mainly recording modern hard rock/metal stuff. FFO Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, From Ashes to New, etc.
