PALINDROME — Re-framed our Telugu neo-noir thriller into True IMAX 1.43:1 Ratio [Short Film

We just officially released the True IMAX 1.43:1 ratio edition of our Telugu neo-noir thriller short film, PALINDROME! 🎬

To our knowledge, this is one of the very first Telugu short films presented in a full 1.43:1 expanded vertical format. Rather than using traditional widescreen (16:9 or 2.35:1), we wanted to experiment with tall framing to create tighter headroom, striking character geometry, and a claustrophobic, towering atmosphere throughout the story.

Just dropped a quick 2mins03secs glimpse for my upcoming short film/featurette, MAYDAY.

It’s a gritty, two-chapter political procedural and psychological thriller. We opened it with real archival terrorism footage and built the visual style around changing aspect ratios—using open IMAX height for the procedural search and tight 2.35:1 widescreen for the hostage entrapment scenes.

PALINDROME: first telugu short film in extended IMAX ratio

PALINDROME – IMAX Version is a 21-minute Telugu psychological neo-noir thriller that combines three of my previous short films (The Watcher, Anupath, and Aravindha) into one nonlinear story. I re-edited them to create a single narrative where scenes gain new meaning depending on where they appear in the timeline.

The biggest challenge was restructuring the screenplay so three separate films would feel like one continuous experience. I spent a lot of time on pacing, transitions, sound design, and the color palette to maintain the same atmosphere throughout. Since I'm an independent filmmaker with a very small budget, I handled most of the writing, editing, and post-production myself.

I'd genuinely love to hear what you think about the nonlinear storytelling, editing, and whether the narrative works as a complete film. Any feedback is appreciated!

Palindrome — a mind-bending crime thriller (Telugu, with subtitles)

Hey everyone, we made a new short film called Palindrome. Our previous one, Piraso: The Puzzle, got picked up by a couple of festivals, so we decided to push ourselves further with this one.

Logline:

When a high-value bag of money vanishes, a group of desperate strangers gets pulled into a web of paranoia and betrayal — where every choice leads to an inevitable trap.

It's a mind-bending crime/psychological thriller, shot with a small crew and a very limited budget. Would genuinely love feedback from this community — what worked, what didn't, anything that pulled you out of it.
