Next step after bronze star

My 10 year old is just completing his bronze star and really enjoys it. He has indicated that once completed he wants to continue on with bronze medallion.

He is still very young. Should we wait out a bit before doing this? If so, recommendations on other swimming options in the mean time other than just regular lessons or swim squad (he doesn't want to do that).

Female relationships in The Other Bennet Sister book

I almost did not finish the book, there were quite a few things that annoyed me. Firstly, there were many scenes that felt like inferior re-writing of Pride and Prejudice scenes reapplied to Mary and they just disappointed me.

The modern voice was very present, especially in the final section of the book - Lake District and beyond. I guess this didn't really bother me, but did take me out a bit and did make it less relatable to Austen writing. I can accept that though.

The thing I hated the most was how isolated Mary was. Why was she building these strong bonds with men but never women? I hated how she did not have any female friendships, and did not meet any women during her time in London.

I'm glad I finished it, but I was left feeling pretty dissatisfied. Anyone else feel similar?

Platypus gravity filter help!

Can anyone give advice on what to try to get my platypus gravity filter working. It was last used in November and before packing up I ran a dilute bleach though, and dried thoroughly.

I tried running it ahead our first trip of the season this weekend and it wouldn't work. Eventually I was able to get it to back filter in a reasonable amount of time. I don't think it is dirty, I saw maybe 2 grains of dirt/sand in the water total.

Now I'm trying to run the filter and some water is coming through, but at a snail pace. At the rate it's going it will take all day or longer to filter 2L. Should I just leave it be, will it speed up after this initial run?

It's Saturday morning and I feel like crepes with ricotta filling. This is nostalgic for me. My mum used to always make them rolled up with a simple filling of ricotta, sugar and lemon juice.

I don't have any lemons and too lazy to go to the shops. What is something else I can mix the ricotta with? I have a blueberry compote??
