Best book I've read so far!

I purchased, Astrological Magic by Neat Huizer. Having read my fair share of occult books over the last 20 years, I can confidently say this is one of the best I have ever come across.

I initially approached it with caution because astrological magic often gets mishandled. Some books bury the reader under tedious ceremony, while others flatten the practice into vague intention work. This book is far more interesting. The author draws from older sources like the Greek Magical Papyri and the Picatrix, using traditional timing, sigils, and planetary jurisdictions. However, it does not read like dry scholarship. It reads like a practical guide written by someone who tested the material to see what still works.

The PGM is powerful but unruly, and the Picatrix is rarely friendly to beginners. Here, that old material is successfully translated into a method you can actually follow. The book gives the system shape by treating petitions, pacts, and talismans as distinct practices rather than interchangeable labels. The section on pacts is especially worthwhile. It correctly frames planetary magic around relationship and repetition rather than a one-off request.

For beginners, it is unusually accessible. The author addresses real-world worries like pronunciation, mistakes, and fear without making the work feel childish. This is not a scholarly edition of ancient texts; it is a highly practical working manual. It keeps enough of the old force to matter while giving the reader a clear, functional way to begin.
