Timing-based practice app (moon, planetary hours, sabbats). Free closed beta, practitioner feedback wanted

We built Arctara around timing instead: moon phase, planetary hour, and sabbat timing together, so you can see when something's actually well-timed, not just how to do it.

Save your workings, plan spells around real timing, hemisphere-aware Wheel of the Year, a deity compendium tied to timing rather than static entries. Tarot, runes, dream journal, and grimoire all connected to the same logic.

Free, closed beta, kept small on purpose so practitioners can actually shape what's missing.

Best book I've read so far!

I purchased, Astrological Magic by Neat Huizer. Having read my fair share of occult books over the last 20 years, I can confidently say this is one of the best I have ever come across.

I initially approached it with caution because astrological magic often gets mishandled. Some books bury the reader under tedious ceremony, while others flatten the practice into vague intention work. This book is far more interesting. The author draws from older sources like the Greek Magical Papyri and the Picatrix, using traditional timing, sigils, and planetary jurisdictions. However, it does not read like dry scholarship. It reads like a practical guide written by someone who tested the material to see what still works.

The PGM is powerful but unruly, and the Picatrix is rarely friendly to beginners. Here, that old material is successfully translated into a method you can actually follow. The book gives the system shape by treating petitions, pacts, and talismans as distinct practices rather than interchangeable labels. The section on pacts is especially worthwhile. It correctly frames planetary magic around relationship and repetition rather than a one-off request.

For beginners, it is unusually accessible. The author addresses real-world worries like pronunciation, mistakes, and fear without making the work feel childish. This is not a scholarly edition of ancient texts; it is a highly practical working manual. It keeps enough of the old force to matter while giving the reader a clear, functional way to begin.

Website or app that calculates optimal elections and provides a time/date, to craft a talisman, or undertake a venture?

The photo attached shows a number of Elections that need to be considered when crafting a particular talisman. Is there a website where I can plug in these parameters and it'll give me the optimal time and date?

Bronze Correspondence

Bronze is an alloy of mostly Copper and Tin. But does it possess any qualities of the two benefic planets? I've been asking myself this for a couple of days with limited results, maybe some of you something about this.

What happens when a dishonest person works with Algol?

I've worked with Algol for several years with great results. I'm curious though, what happens when a person who struggles with honesty, slight manipulation, substance abuse etc. works with Algol? I'm referring to those who may be good people, have good intentions towards others etc. but who struggle with these qualities at times.

Is it possible to strengthen only one aspect of a planet without strengthening all of its significations?

Here's what I mean:

Suppose a planet rules both a benefic house and a malefic house in the natal chart, and you want to wear that planet's gemstone. Is it possible to neutralize the effects of the malefic house?

In other words, could wearing the planet's gemstone while also worshipping its graha/planet/god through mantras/orphyc himns and offerings mitigate the negative effects, allowing you to enhance the positive ones without amplifying the negative ones?

What exactly are the relationships between Saturn with society, law and order and Jupiter with society, law and order?

So in some obvious ways Saturn and Jupiter seem like opposites, the Greater Malefic vs the Greater Benefic, contraction, limitation, etc. vs expansion, etc. Yet both are in various ways tied to social order, which gets extremely confusing fast.

When I read about the Golden Age, it makes me think of some sorta high tech transhumanist utopia. Their dream is very similar, really. To live very long not having to work your ass off and all that. On the other hand, I've met people who interpret this myth to refer to something of an idealized hunter gatherer society, you know, the "noble savage" type stuff. Idealization of humanity before society and technology made us "evil". I didn't find this interpretation plausible at all at first until I realized that the Golden Age ended when Prometheus gave us fire.

In the Cult of the Black Cube it is suggested that Saturn works for both of these extremes, a high tech authoritarian state and reversion into some sorta nature centered anarchy.

So if Saturn symbolizes this more natural and "primitive" mode of existence, then Jove overthrowing him symbolizes the arising of society and civilization. But on the other hand Saturn is often understood as the civilization builder himself.

Similarly, a good argument could be made that Saturn stands for communal way of life, you know, no private property, hierarchy, etc. Then Jupiter becomes the God of all this stuff. But on the other hand Saturn easily has to do as much with hierarchy, authority and even tyranny.

Jupiter is usually associated with philosophy, yet Saturn has way more to do with deep contemplation, introspection, looking for secret truths, hardcore dry rationalism and proneness to melancholy.

Saturn is associated with the poor and Jupiter with wealth... except Saturn is also associated with wealth. In a more weird way?

And so on. It seems like while Jupiter is consistently straightforward, Saturn is absurdly dualistic and combines extremes.

So I wonder how the side of civilization, authority, social order, conservatism, wealth of Saturn relates to corresponding Jupiterian qualities.

Targeted love spell in Planetary magic / Talismanic magic

Is there any particular technique that can help attract a particular person?
I know there are 3rd, 4th and 5th pentacles of Venus, but other than that is there anything else? Like a petition or talisman.

How to properly conjure Aphrodite/Venus/Haniel?

I’m planning on calling on Venus/Aphrodite/Haniel this Friday to help in a love matter. I know the moon isn’t in the most favorable position, and I was pretty ignorant to preparations (other than general fasting) until now.

Would any fasting or preparations be necessary before conjuring her? Other than general cleanliness and abstinence?

And anyone with experience, could you share your template for conjuring her?

Wrong order

I bought a Jupiter keychain and I was sent a Mars keychain. I literally got the package as Scorpio was Rising and opened it and you could hear a pin drop in the room as I realized what planet I was looking at.

Mars is in Taurus and currently on Algol. To me, this is not auspicious, rather ominous. I don't dabble in planetary magic too often, but I thought I would get this as an introduction...

I refuse to put it on my keyring!

I would be okay with a Medusa tattoo, but this just actually feels crazy. I don't feel right about this. I'm so shocked this happened to me and this time, I can't say it was for a greater reason because I can't think of one.

Mars is my radix L6 and L11, my malefic out of sect. I've been having crazy health issues all year. This is the last thing I'd want to carry around on my person.

There is no upside to this mistake, right? I don't have any astrologer friends to talk this over with. I'm in such shock and I don't want to f around and find out for the internet.

Edit: Upon further reflection, I know exactly what to do with this keyring.

Is it easier to create lunar mansion talismans than plentary talismans?

The moon passes through every single mansion roughly once a month, whereas planets move much slowly. That means a perfect window for making planetary talisman is open once every few years.

Due to the higher frequency of opportunities, are lunar mansion talismans easier to make? Or there are some other factors that are considered while making lunar mansion talismans - that are not an issue for planetary talismans ?

Which day is better to make a spell about attracting clients/followers on social media?

I work as an artist/animator and could use some assistance in that area

I’m guessing the moon is better suited in the first image as it is in Libra ie sign related to socializing. Also in conjunction with my natal Venus and Moon. Venus in Leo and Jupiter in Cancer also help. I should do more research on Moon in Sagittarius, I’ve heard it’s a good placement but not exactly sure why.

The ones I’m concerned about is Mercury in Cancer as it relates a lot to social media/technology/communication and afaik it doesn’t do particularly well on that sign. Also Mars in Taurus doesn’t seem to favorable, but maybe it could mean a steady influx of clients?

Edit: the inner chart is my birth chart and the outer one shows current transits
