How do you track your weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, longer-term goals ?

Hello,

I’m looking for a better way to track my goals and keep them easily accessible.

I initially thought about using my note-taking app (Obsidian) with periodic notes (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly). However, this approach doesn’t really work for me because it prevents me from having a clear overview of all my yearly (or longer-term) goals.

At the same time, it also forces me to rewrite the same goals multiple times across different periodic notes (weekly/monthly/etc.), which feels redundant and hard to maintain.

Has anyone found a good system to solve this kind of problem while keeping it very simple ? I'm not interested in writing my goals in any goal tracking dedicated app.

Thank you for reading.

Filter files with a keyword

Hello, I’m using Obsidian as my note taking app and was wondering if there is way to get all my files (.md) containing a specific keyword efficiently ?

I already thought about : get all files -> repeat for each element -> if file contains <keyword> then add to a list. However, this method seems inefficient, especially if I have thousands of notes.

Thank you for reading.

Obsidian + Tasks manager app Workflow ?

I’m curious how people here handle the split between Obsidian and a dedicated task manager.

Right now I use Things 3 + Obsidian:

  • Obsidian for project notes, brainstorming, documentation, references, etc.
  • Things 3 for the actual projects/tasks, deadlines, scheduling, next actions, reminders, etc.

The problem is that it creates a separation:

  • the “thinking” about the project lives in Obsidian
  • the “execution” of the project lives in Things

So sometimes I feel like my projects are fragmented across two systems.

I know some people go all-in on Obsidian with plugins but it doesn’t seem smooth enough to me. I’d love to know:

  • how do you structure this?
  • do you link your task manager and Obsidian somehow?
  • do you keep projects only in one app?
  • what workflow ended up feeling the most natural long term?
