What iPhone Shortcuts do you use regularly that have genuinely made your life easier?

I'm curious to know what shortcuts everyone uses on their iPhone that have genuinely made everyday life easier whether it's something simple or a more advanced automation.

I've started experimenting more with the Shortcuts app and one automation I use regularly automatically reduces the white point on my display at night. It makes the screen much dimmer than the standard brightness slider allows which makes it far more comfortable to use my phone in the dark without straining my eyes. I've also added a shortcut to my Control Centre that lets me quickly turn my smart lights on or oft without having to open the app itself. It's a small convenience but it makes controlling my lights so much easier.

What shortcuts or automations do you use that you couldn't live without? I'd like to discover some new ones and see what everyone else has come up with :)

Built a native iOS Shortcut to get the latest F1 GP classification directly in a system

Wanted a quick, zero-friction way to check the final classification of the latest Grand Prix without opening Twitter, the F1 app, or launching Safari tabs.

Built this native Apple Shortcut that pulls directly from the Ergast / Jolpi API (⁠/current/last/results.json⁠) and parses the complete race order right into an iOS dialog card:

Can’t seem to make an automation that performs an action very 60 minutes. Whats the workaround?

Im trying to make an automation that notes down my battery percentage every hour and saves it to my notes. But apparently i cant make a shortcut that works every hour. How do i tackle this?

Auto Send Location through iMessgaes

My parents are being annoying about having my location so I’ve decided on malicious compliance.

I put this shortcut into automations to run every three hours. BUT, I tested it by sending the location to myself and it makes me hit send every time. I have “Run Immediately” turned on, and both my parents have iPhones, so idk what else to do.

I want it to run even if my phone is locked and I don’t have to open my phone to hit send.

“This action cannot be run in the current environment” what do i do?

i saw a video on tik tok with this automation and put it in my shortcuts app. First of all i tried it out and it said that the phone needs to be unlocked for the shortcut to work which i don’t know how to turn off. second of all, when i had my phone unlocked and tried doing it, it showed an error saying “This action cannot be run in the current environment”

I’m not the best with these thing so if anyone could help me figure out why it can’t be run and also how i can make it so it doesn’t require my phone to be unlocked i’d really appreciate it

Playing YouTube Playlist on Apple TV when iPhone is Locked

hello all,

I am trying to setup a shortcut automation to run every morning to wake my Apple TV, launch YouTube, and automatically play a specific YouTube playlist each morning at 6:15am. I have gotten YouTube to launch, but I cannot get the playlist to play when the iPhone is locked. it only seems to play when the iPhone is unlocked and YouTube is open to airplay.

does anyone have any ideas? I do not have a networking device running 24/7, but I do have Alexa devices and a Roku tv with cec.

I made a quick-access translator for the languages I use the most

I constantly need to communicate with people throughout the day who speak languages I don’t understand, like Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian. I often have fairly extensive conversations with these people, and I got tired of having to open Google Translate or an AI every time I wanted to translate a message. So I created a shortcut where you type what you want to translate, choose the language, and the result is automatically copied to your clipboard.

I added it to my Control Center to make it super quick to access.

I also added the option to translate using Apple’s own translator (local translation) or using AI. Some more complex or very specific messages, for example, something involving slang or a particular type of humor, don’t translate very well with a basic translator, so I use the AI option for those.

Cannot delete item from 'choose from menu'

I have a menu of items and I cannot delete an entry. I've cleared out the nested items but whenever I hit the trash button the entry is still there. I've tried duplicating the menu, and I've tried duplicating the entire shortcut - same thing happens. I've also tried editing the text in the item - no luck. I've also created a test shortcut with a new menu and the same thing happens - I cannot delete any menu items there either. I even tried restarting the phone (yes I got desperate).

Is there some kind of bug in iOS 27 that I'm hitting?

Notes app is installed.

Above error on AWU4 (first pic). I’m attempting to test a very simple shortcut (second pic). “Anki ADDS” is the name of the file in Notes. Notes app installed across all devices. Any ideas?
