Is it possible to disable a setting when I have an alarm on snooze?

Is it possible to disable a setting when I have an alarm on snooze?

Appreciate this is a long shot but I am amazed by what people are able to do with shortcuts so asking anyway!!!

I was updating some iPhone settings yesterday and came across Screen Distance, which forces you to hold your iPhone further back to prevent eye strain. I’m so bad for holding it up close so this is exactly the sort of thing I need!!

It works brilliantly most of the time, however I like to wake myself up with a morning sudoku and crossword which I do without my glasses or contacts in and it’s now very irritating lol

I always ‘snooze’ my alarm when I’m doing the puzzles so I don’t fall victim to time blindness or get distracted so I was wondering if there’s a way to disable the screen distance setting when I have an alarm on snooze? I know it would be easier to just disable it based on time of day but i work shifts so there isn’t really a set time I’d want it on for. However if this is the only way then it’s possible then I’ll take what I can get !!

Thanks!!

Wake up trigger

I have some shortcuts that are meant to trigger When Waking Up, but I've found that it doesn't always trigger.

My understanding was that they were meant to run when the sleep alarm goes off, even if it is snoozed?

I would set them to run at a set time, but I would wake up at different times through the week.

Record mineral water to Apple Health app

I need little help with a shortcut for logging data in Apple Health.

The basic shortcut for recording the amount of water consumed (the amount is selectable from a "list") works. However, I need to expand it to include "mineral" water with a higher magnesium content (as well as calcium and sodium—170 mg of Mg, 37 mg of Ca, 6 mg of Na / per liter).

Basically, I want this shortcut to automatically calculate the ratio of minerals to a selected amount of water and then enter it into the Apple Health app.

I tried to get it working using AI (of course), but I couldn't get it to work with that drop-down list.

Is there anyone here who could advise or help me with this?

How to set sleep focus by using a shortcut?

Hi all,

I want to make a shortcut that changes my watch face on wind down and then when it’s bedtime, turn on sleep focus.

The first part, I got that working. My Apple Watch changes the watch face correctly.
Though, I have tried several ways to get sleep focus to activate but doesn’t work.

Used the automation “when bedtime starts” doesn’t work because wind down, is actually the sleep focus that turns on sleep focus. So, when bedtime starts just won’t work for some reason.

Want to get the time of my bedtime schedule, but don’t know how.

Snuffing an idea how I can solve this?

QuickCopy! A digital clipboard

https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/4d3e1144244941ae9dc970e20debecea

This is the second version of the same premise, instead of one shortcut/clipboard with another shortcut to navigate them, I made some much needed quality of life changes such as a series of menus (instead of fat fingering the wrong action all in one menu) and a replace action.

It's still mildly janky, specifically upon starting up but has no issues thereafter. I wanted the actions to use the same logic engine, so a lot of careful rearranging and placements were made.

Please give me tips if there is room for improvement and feel free to use it if you ever need a clipboard you can access while on other applications (I know I do)

[Free] I made a Quick Sticky Note for the Lock Screen!

Hi everyone,

I want to share a very useful feature I just added to my app. It helps you take quick notes directly on your Lock Screen without unlocking your phone.

You just tap the shortcut button (or add double-tap), type what you want to remember. It updates right away!

The app is called LockScreen Calendar Maker.

Important note: My app does have some premium (paid) templates, BUT I decided to make this Sticky Note template 100% FREE. You don't have to pay or subscribe to use this quick note feature.

During the app installation process, you will also go through some steps to set up shortcuts to change the lock screen image.

I hope you find it helpful for your daily life.

You can download app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id6758650351

Link shortcut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/1457c1c4ac154d50adc0914afe07917d

Let me know what you think! I would love to hear your feedback.

Question about switching focus modes

Let’s say that I am in a particular focus mode, focus A. Now I’m going to switch to focus B. When I exit from focus B, will it take me back to focus A because it was the prior focus or will it default to no focuses set?

What’s the expected behavior?

Does any of that behavior change if I’m switching focuses manually versus programmatically, through Shortcuts or another means?

Is it different from Mac and iPhone?

I know it’s a lot of questions, guys, so I really appreciate your time and attention!

Apple Readies AI Writing Help, App Shortcuts and Wallpapers for iOS 27 (Gift Link)

> Apple plans several new AI features across iOS 27, looking to better compete with Android. That includes new AI writing tools like a Grammar Checker, AI-created Wallpapers and new Shortcuts app with AI-based shortcut creation. > > The new AI writing tools include a Grammar Checker that works similarly to Grammarly. It joins the original set of Writing Tools features, which is actually perhaps the one Apple Intelligence feature that is somewhat useful. > > The new wallpaper generator uses technology from Image Playground. It’s available as an option in the wallpaper picker. The Google Pixel has had this functionality for a while now. > > Long planned, the new AI system in the Shortcuts app will allow the use of natural language to create and install a Shortcut.

Whatsapp message automation not working anymore

I had a daily automation to trigger a shorcut to send a message via Whatsapp to one of my contacts. It used to work without me doing anything.

Now, after updating to iOS 26.5, this pops up. Any ideas?

My recipient has an Android; but again, this used to work flawlessly.

Compress media, remove metadata, make PDFs and QRs — in one tap (Nodex ALPHA)

I got tired of using multiple apps just to compress files, remove metadata, create PDFs, or generate QR codes… so I made a single iPhone Shortcut for all of it.
Features:
• Compress photos & videos 📉
• Remove metadata for privacy 🔒
• Convert photos to PDF 📄
• Turn URLs into QR codes ⚡
Everything works in a few taps and without the usual clutter.
Still improving it, so feedback is welcome 👀

I built an App Intent for Dengii so Shortcuts can auto-log Apple Pay transactions - sharing the setup

This is kind of embarrassing to admit, but I build a budget app and I was still forgetting to log my own expenses.

I'd tap Apple Pay, put my phone in my pocket, and by the time I was outside the store I'd already moved on. The intention was there. The log was not.

I tried reminders. I tried widgets. Nothing really worked because the problem wasn't the app - it was that 30-second window where you're already mentally somewhere else.

What ended up working for me:

A Shortcuts automation that fires when a Wallet payment goes through. It passes the merchant name and amount into an App Intent in Dengii. You get a one-tap confirm screen. Takes maybe 5 seconds.

The other thing I added is a Back Tap shortcut - double tap the back of your phone and it opens straight to voice input in Dengii. You say "coffee 3.50" and it's logged. Good for cash or when you're splitting something.

Honestly the Back Tap one took me three attempts to get right. Voice timing, making sure it didn't fight with other gestures, keeping it short enough to be worth using. I expected the Apple Pay automation to be the useful one, but this is the thing I actually use every single day.

Shipped it in v1.2 of Dengii this week. App's free to try if anyone wants to poke at the App Intent. Happy to share the automation setup if it's useful - just drop a comment.

Append to note shortcut works differently on iPad and IPhone. Same exact shortcut but different outputs. The iPad will not format the note correctly.

I have a shortcut built on my work phone and work iPad that allow me to append to a specific note and have it formatted the way I want. BUT the formatting works perfect on the iPhone (even tested on my personal phone) but on the iPad it will not format it at all. I'm sharing the screenshots and shortcut (only difference will be the note as I'm sharing from my personal phone, it's the correct one on the work phone). I've tried redoing it a few different ways but the iPad just will not work with formatting it. In the screenshots, the first two are from the phone. The last one is from the iPad. Any ideas?

Alarms on Watch

Semi-new to shortcuts. Currently at work I use my Apple Watch with the native alarm complication to show me when my next break is or when my shift is over. I have to manually enter these in every time (they change every day)

Is there a way to make a shortcut for me to perhaps enter a screenshot of my schedule and it automatically turn these alarms on my watch?

It’s worth mentioning that (for some reason) phone and watch alarms are completely different. A phone alarm won’t show on my watch’s complication.

[IOS26] Automating alarms for work got a whole lot more accessible

I often see on this subreddit people asking for help with configuring their shortcuts to set alarms automatically based on their work schedule and it’s always the same mess of logic that should work but failed silently. So I thought I would share a solution.

My app, VariAlarm, automation feature helps making this into a user friendly rule based where the app looks for an event matching positive keywords, filtering out negative ones and let you set preceeding alarms. All you need to call every night is a single provided shortcut. The app has lockscreen and homescreen widgets so you can tell when the next alarms are. It can set multiple alarms before a matching event in case you need to prepare.

One of its biggest strength is pulling the event name to name the alarm. Since alarm in my app is fire and forget, they don’t linger around. I use this to set alarms for my meetings automatically and have an idea what it is ringing for.

My German users use this to set 1 hour alarm for his commute and 15 mins for his work from home days. My Italian users use this to never have to set an alarm again and just plan in his Calendar.

You access this by Schedule tab - action button - Calendar

Open specific reminder

I’ve made this shortcut to let me see all reminders created within a specific time period but only from certain lists (as smart lists won’t let you go into that level of detail.)

https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/61a29e1968aa413a85cee90fae672fbd

It works but is clunky. In order to open the reminder and see it in context of the list you have to first select the desired reminder from the list. Then click on the title of the reminder within the show content action.

Is there some way to avoid having to complete the second click and just have reminders open and go to then highlight the reminder within the list directly from the find reminders action?

I’ve attached screenshots of the current steps.

I’m surprised there isn’t just an open reminder action. I’ve tried open file but it says it cannot open in reminders. I think this is because the item selection from
list is in the .ics format.

I am hoping I am overlooking something and this can be simply resolved.

Auto navigation home on motorbike

I have a CarPlay on my motorbike and it’s great. I can jump on and say “hey siri navigate home”. This will use Apple Maps and works perfectly without me touching anything.

I’m trying to create a shortcut that, when I leave work at between 15:50 and 16:10, to automatically navigate home and start navigation without me pressing “start”.

I just can’t seem to do it and I really thought that it would be a basic routine.

I tried AI which seems to change its mind every time I ask and am flummoxed. Anyone help please?

What storage for daily logs that instantly updates and syncs across devices?

I created a medicine logger that adds to notes meds I just took. Problem is notes doesn’t really sync, I have to open the app for the changes to sync on iCloud. What storage locations can I use as an alternative that could solve this problem?
