CnD Team-up and Future Team-ups

When do we think we will lose the cnd team up? I’ve heard that rivals might do a big change with all the team ups (rumors though, nothing serious) so I’ve been wondering about ours.

Do you think they would either replace the team up or give us a flat buff to compensate if we lose the team up?

I personally love the cloak ability but I think it’s way too strong to add into the base kit or anything. I would really like any future team ups to be on par with what we have and if they go the route of removing it but compensating our base kit with a buff, I’d like a similar ability to the cloak one but probably on a weaker scale like without the slow or a shorter duration.

If we got a new team up what would y’all like? Idk, I think I would like some kind of team up with maybe jubilee where we get to throw down a sparkly smoke bomb and we are completely invisible when we are in the smoke. It feels very ninja like. Or I think I would like some kind of ability where I throw something down and do a short teleport somewhere. Idk, what do y’all think?

Controller settings

If anyone would like controller settings from a celestial psylocke player or wants to try out new sensitivity settings I thought I’d share my settings.

I don’t think I’ve seen many people run these kind of settings and I basically copied it from tny on YouTube with maybe some adjustments to aim assist, i don’t remember though.

Horizontal: 500
Vertical: 500

Curve type: dual zone s curve

Advanced curve settings:
-min range: 27
-max range: 69
-statics: 33
-maximum curve: 67

Targeting min input dead zone: as low as possible, mine is 2
Targeting max input dead zone: 0

Horizontal Max dead zone boost: 100
Vertical max dead zone boost: 100
Max deadzone latency response time: 0
Max deadzone response time: 0

Aim assist window size: 17
Aim assist strength: 100
Ease in for all types: 80

Disable aim assist at max deadzone and enabled close range aim assist

Ngl these settings have made a world of a difference for me and I wish I used these settings from the start. It’s a really fast sens, but you can tune down the main horizontal and vertical sens if it feels too fast and work up from there. I will say, it’s been awesome to use for micro adjustments and it’s really responsive which is something I really like. I’ve always wanted to share these settings because I really love it and it’s made me have a much easier time aiming. I’m still open to changing some of these settings and I would like feedback if yall try it out. I tend to average around 45ish on psylocke and 55-60 on hitscan so I can confidently say this curve has helped me be pretty good at aiming on controller

If playing psy in rivals is getting kind of stale…

I’ve been playing a bit of overwatch recently and I really like the new hero shion. She has a similar flank/psuedo dive playstyle with a ton of mobility like psylocke.

For me rivals has gotten a little boring and I really don’t like how ineffective I feel at times in my ranked games. I’m a competitive person, so I don’t really enjoy playing any other game mode other than ranked, and like with the way the game currently is, I get infinitely more value on other characters compared to psy. Like in games where cyclops isn’t banned or I play Elsa, I switch and it’s a guaranteed mvp :(

So I’ve picked up overwatch and it seems cool and I like the focus on skill and mechanics, and I really enjoy how well my skills on psy translated to shion. Plus it’s another sexy japanese lady I get to play. So, if rivals is feeling a bit boring for some of you psy mains, I implore you to try to play shion. It’s added a little bit of variety to my experience, and I’ve had a much better time playing rivals since. Like I’ve felt like I’m not forcing myself to play rivals, rather I’m doing it because I want to.

So if queuing ranked with psy has made you go absolutely nuts and you haven’t been having as much fun in rivals, try something new, you might like it. Probably not a suggestion for everyone, but I thought I’d share my thoughts.

Fun silly psy idea

Not really a balance thing, I think psy is fine just too many strong characters in the game that needs nerfs, this is more so something cool I wish psy had.

What if she could like actually use her sword. Like I think her sword is such a cool aspect to her character, but I wish it was incorporated more prominently in her kit. Like idk an alt primary you could switch to instead of psionic crossbow. Imagine we loose the team up and that’s the button (triangle for me on controller) to swap to her swords. Kind of like her melee but does a bit more damage and like actually uses her katana, idk. Plus she has some really cool sword designs with her skins so it would be nice to use it in game.

Also what if instead of her current ult, we just replaced it with genji ult where she uses her swords with increased damage and gets dash reset on kills?

Tldr I want to use katanas with the sexy ninja lady

Luna Snow Misconceptions

This is going to be a long one, but please read through it. You know I’ve seen multiple clips of people getting deleted by Luna snow and while the general consensus is she is broken, I’ve seen a good number of people defend and justify her current kit. I think the best way to combat these misconceptions on Luna is to explain every aspect of her kit and why it is so broken

275 hp: enough hp to slightly out last easy dive combos (ie bp spear-dash-spear-dash, spidey sekkombo, psylocke primary secondary primary combo (unless full hits, but generally not possible gameplay loop))

Her primary: it’s genuinely ridiculous how much damage it does now, 2 tapping all 275 hp heros with the same ttk as poke dps and less fall off than hela and phoenix. Even without self flake. However I would argue while the damage needs nerfs, she should still have one of the highest damage numbers out of supps, since that is the niche she is supposed to fill which I will cover later.

Her clap: Initiates self healing (104 heal over time, 114 with self flake), large aoe-esque attacks that do less healing/damage per target but pierces and deals large amounts of healing to groups. Pretty balanced ability and a crutch for bad Luna players to counter dive. The self healing is really good since it negates burst damage break points (this is a huge point and a reoccurring problem in her kit).

Snowball: omg. Used to be an actual skill shot, now it’s basically hitscan instant cast. Just a panic button you press that negates a lot of things. Also initiates self heal (104 hp total, 114 with self flake) on cast (heal over time though). Also has some timing inconsistencies where you can damage them right after you freeze and they still remain frozen (this is broken, this exploit is a literal unreactable combo).

Snowflake: you give this to a player to give them increased healing when you heal them and also a sort of siphon to the player when you heal another ally. When they partake in a ko it reduces your clap cooldown by 2 sec

Self flake: so many misconceptions surrounding this ability. Directly from the patch notes: you get flat 10% damage boost, 10% healing boost, and 10% of healing done to allies is converted into self healing. Outside of that, if you partake in a ko, it reduces clap cooldown by 2 sec. With damage boost, she 2 taps 300 hp heros (for reference phoenix cannot do that).

White fox team up: soft cc that initiates self heal (104 heal over time, 114 with self flake) also damages people and heals allies.

Ult: unironically the most balanced part of the kit, one of the best defensive ults in the game with a pretty high ult cost. Also one of the best ults to enable other ults with damage boost (ie venom, phoenix, etc).

My thoughts: she’s broken. She’s my second most played hero and my fav support. I really like the niche she had where she was a glass cannon with high damage and high healing output that rewarded good aim in return that she didn’t have a ton of defensive abilities other than her skill shot freeze and out aiming the other dps. Her freeze is broken due to the aforementioned exploit and the unneeded cast buff.

Some common misconceptions:

“this is what happens when dps and tanks don’t peel, we need to defend against dive” - where did this thought process come from? You don’t reward bad team strategy by enabling it further. If your team doesn’t peel, they shouldn’t win, it’s not justification for raid boss behavior.

“Well Luna is weak against dive, she needs these abilities” - since when is a character not allowed to have weaknesses? Plus like if they are hard diving you with a venom, spidey, etc. and your team isn’t helping, you should absolutely die. Plus this entire context is assuming she doesn’t get any help from the other support.

“But but everybody wants to girlboss with Luna, she needs to be able to humble dps players” - I’m kidding of course but this is the sentiment I feel from the community lol. Can we not make every support easy access? I liked that it took some effort and skill to be good with Luna, I want my old Luna back :( you were forced to build good habits if you wanted to be a good Luna. Like predicting dives and their movement patterns to hit your freeze and learning good positioning to force dive from open sightlines.

“So then what do you want me to do? You’re all high and mighty op, what are you going to do against unreactable combos?” - learn the game, hero shooters aren’t new. Understand if your team doesn’t help, they deserve to lose. Plus she already had skill based matchups into dive. It was dependent on you hitting your shots, and hitting your freeze. If you don’t feel confident in taking those matchups, use your team and your environment to your advantage. Force dive to come at you from an open sight line, then their unreactable combo isn’t so unreactable and your team is forced to acknowledge their existence. You have the ability to dictate engagement timing. Also there aren’t really any unreactable combos in the game. A lot of them are telegraphed and/or have a pause in between where they are particularly vulnerable. For example when spidey uppercuts or right before his slam down, it’s an easy freeze or when he uses his get over here. Bp has slight pauses in between his combo, and after his core spear dash spear dash, his uptime is significantly slower. Ok if you are really struggling into a full dive comp, switch, it’s not worth it to force a squishy support into that situation unless you have the utmost confidence in your abilities.

Hope yall read through my synopsis of Luna snow, and why exactly she’s incredibly broken. Please take the time to actually consider what I’m saying instead of feeling attacked personally. “Low elo take” / “must be a dive main” - I main psylocke and she’s really my only dive. I love playing Luna and outside of that I like hitscan like hela and phoenix. I dibble and dabble with spidey in qp. I’m currently cel 2 on console and I peaked cel 1 and I was ranked top 10 on psylocke this season on console, so please use this as context for any personal insults lol.

“Casual” players genuinely ruin games

I’m so tired of seeing braindead people act like this game shouldn’t be balanced competitively. You shouldn’t balance your game around people who don’t even play the game like that. They come in when there is a ton of hype and there’s a new hero and then they leave, they don’t actually care about the state of the game. Why would you want to balance around them? A hero shooter is an inherently competitive genre, what does casually playing even mean in this context? Not having to think and pressing buttons to win?

Half the player base that plays qp and does those random shit on pve or whatever the other modes are have such strong opinions on character strength and game balance. They all larp being tank mains and supp mains and how their life sucks because of all the dps instalockers and spideys going 1-10. Like that is just such bs that happens once in a while in qp. I have yet to load into a match where we didn’t walk out in 2 2 2, unless otherwise coordinated to run triple dps on offense or in a dive comp with venom. Genuinely who doesn’t fill in this day and age, like are there otps? Yes there are, but a majority of players in a meaningful rank play multiple roles, like bro if your walking out with 4 dps or 1 support in any kind of way in multiple different matches, 100% you are in diamond or below. Like we have to quit with the propaganda that it’s dps mains vs tank mains and supp mains. And the crazy part is netease is awesome in they listen to the community, but I wish they didn’t, because this is who we are listening to.

Don’t even get me started on the balancing. It’s like there’s genuinely no way people think before they speak. “It’s a team game” is an argument I’ve seen made in such bad bad context. It justifies absolutely broken mechanics and simultaneously used as an argument against solo divers. The team aspect is the objective, when you as a team does good, you should be winning the objective, when you as a player does good you should be winning matchups. A solo diver who out plays a support should get the kill. That’s just common sense, you shouldn’t need a dive tank to soak damage for you just so you can perform your niche. A dive tank should make it EASIER for you to do your job, but it shouldn’t be absolutely necessary for you to get value. Balancing for casual players has led to such a degradation of baiting cooldowns and the community has such stupid takes on it. I’ve seen so many clips of spideys or bps vs supports and you know they miss a couple shots or don’t play it absolutely perfectly and they end up dying to it, and all the comments are: “should’ve baited their cooldowns”, “they received healing from their other support”, “do you expect to solo divers and kill them” like genuinely what are we talking about. You’re telling me that they should bait cooldown but the cooldowns that are supposed to baited have a much higher uptime than the cooldowns you have to use to kill them? Cloak bubble has more uptime than majority of dive cooldowns. Take bp and his direct counter thing, things dash is on a 10 sec cooldown, bps dash on a 10 sec cooldown, fair right? No, things ground lasts 5 sec, meaning his cd uptime is effectively 5 sec. Like that’s what I mean it’s actually so bs. Plus like what is with the community and counters? Counters don’t mean absolutely shutting down another character just because you swapped to their counter. It just means add resistance to how good they are doing. Ughh. I hate the excuse that people say oh but dive is really strong and it’s just daredevil (or bc a season ago), like bp is ass bro. Solo dive psy is not viable in celestial unless you are playing like you are 3 ranks above them. Black cat rn is actual dog (justified though).

I’m not even a true dive main, I main psy (and she’s really my only dive character) but I’m more comfortable on hitscan than any other archetype in the game. Like outside of psy I play Luna (before we larp, I liked playing her since release and before she was a raid boss) and hela, and for tanks I like to play strange and rogue. I dibble and dabble in spidey but I only bust him out in qp. I’m just really tired of seeing the narrative that we need to balance around the casual player base. Stop flattening the skill ceiling to appeal to people who don’t even appreciate game balance.

Getting more value out of psy

Does anyone have tips for getting more value out of psy in high elo? I’m currently cel 2 and it’s getting really hard to hard carry games. I find myself having a hard time getting much value playing into a coordinated brawl team or a team that plays together really well (spacing wise). Like I feel like my dives are getting no value playing into Emma thing frontline and a Bucky wf rocket back line. I swear I have to put in near infinite effort just for a small opportunity just to be chased away or out healed by pattycaking. Like most of the time it seems I’m waiting for the enemy team to make a mistake rather than making opportunities myself and I feel like I don’t have a ton of agency. Do y’all feel the same way or did y’all find a way to get more value? Is there a comm y’all are making to your team to get the enemy team more spread out? I tend to find that the more spacing I have the better I play so is there like a specific team composition I should try running?
