WOAS tierlist (and some thoughs)

I must say, WOAS sold me in these three episode, I loved BFBALT so it was no brainer that I would love WOAS aswell. It feels like BFB pre-split in the best way, the challanges manage to be fun and the cast is really cool, I enjoy most characters and I'd want to say some thoughs on few characters.

Rook is the character that shocked me the most, I should hate Rook, he feels like a combination of Loser and 8-Ball from pre-split, two characters who I wasn't a big fan of during their runs, but I actually quite like him, he works as the pseudo leader, but he's also a pretty nice dude, he lets Tab take charge, he doesn't even fight with them in episode one, heck, he defends them. I think he works because he is as nice as Loser, but as flawed as 8-Ball, creating an interesting character in my opinion.

Lamp is probably the character I'm looking most for and I am very scared of the elimination. I hope her dynamic with Clock gets developed further, because it could lead into some amazing character development, if that happens, I hope the writers find a balance between making her nice and keeping her somewhat mean (I don't want another post-split Flower).

I really want to see more of Buggy Flu Shot, she has a fun gimmick and I want to see more of the cheeckiness she had when she ragebaited Stump in the first episode or even her move "sick in the head" (like Robot said) traits, like wishing to see Mangosteen split (Team Mango had pretty missed potential in episode three, like Recovery Center being a target would have been such an interesting thing to actually explore, but oh well).

That all really, thanks for reading.

I hate the conclusion to Aiden's villain arc

For some context, I quit this season around episode 8, I didn't like the direction the show was going and considering what I'm hearing (and sometimes checking out an episode out of curiosity, like the merge one), it sounds like I wouldn't like it, I wanted to see this episode because episodes like DCAS 13, DCCOC 13 and 21 are usually highlights and I said why not check this one.

It was fine overall, I though it was a bit boring, which is weird for a returning episode but I digress, the one thing I hate is how Aiden was portrayed.

DC5 Aiden is controversial, I know, eliminating a fan first episode when you established that you need to rush to eliminate people and the very next episode, you have Aiden, who has done well in DC2 and DC3 is frustating, but ignoring that, I though DC5 Aiden was great.

The twist works perfectly for Aiden's character, the OG fanboy going back to the statues of fan made sense and it build to his villain arc. In the first episode he was excited to be a favourite and he clearly took that to heart, considering how cocky he was in episode 2, Aiden trying to be the leader of the fans, making harsh moves and overplaying his hand worked with how he was characterized in DC2.

Aiden in DC2 wasn't that good at strategy, he led the Oliver boot sure, but eliminating a potential ally that also could help due to his past experience, even more when you just learn there is already an opposing alliance of 3 is a bad move and getting manipulated by Yul and James isn't a good look. As Riya points out in episode 12, everyone made Aiden look like a fool and that seem to have stuck with him, as in DCAS, when both James and Lake are eliminated, he cries, believing that he can't play the game without them, now, sadly DCAS doesn't take the oportunity to give Aiden an actual arc, but it still stands that Aiden wants to win, to be something, he changed his style for this show and being treated as an idiot must hurt, so Aiden having a third shot and playing as cut throat as possible made sense and having a villain that isn't Finn and Ara levels of asshole but still being unlikeable was fun, I was vibing with DC5 Aiden, he was a fun presents in the competition, even if I personally didn't like his dynamic with Evie (or Evie in general) or how the fans felt robbed, I blame the writing more, not Aiden.

Now come episode 8 and it is bad, was Aiden mean ? Sure, but having such a mean spirited exit is awful and it's really forced, I don't buy Aiden saying that he would just go back to his friends like that, I remember I saw on Twitter that there was apperently a recorded version of Aiden accidentally slipping about ditching the fans and than tried to cover it, I don't see why it was not used, it would have fitted with the flawed strategic Aiden, the Oliver boot was bad, but there is some logic behind it, this is just plain stupidity. If they really wanted to give Aiden a humiliating elimination, maybe actually make Aiden the reason the team losses and not randomly bringing back Nina, that thing was bullshit, it rivlas Ally's bag ripping in DCAS 21.

Despise that, I was expecting more from Aiden in this episode, he once again was made a fool, he kept Evie in the game for nothing, got his lowest placement in the game, not even hitting merge, he has no new connections at all, really, was that everything, I was predicting that he will come back along side Benji (yea, I though there will be two returnies and yea, I know, it would be a 9-4 ratio, maybe don't leave characters with unsatisfying endings). But here we all.

After all of this, this presure that he put on himself to be great, desperately trying to be someone, just for Aiden to go "oh well, no more villain arc" is crap, why did Aiden change his mind ? He is still a nobody, he hasn't accomplished anything, I wanted Aiden to be more desperate, once again, trying to prove the world that he isn't an idiot, but whatever, just throw everything out the window.

Aiden wasn't developed at all, he wasn't grown, what was his purpose this season ? Really, he is back at square one, the same Aiden, no accomplishments, no nothing, isn't that just sad. Actually, you know who he reminds me of, Lynda, a character who also played cut throat to make something for herself and by the end, she still did nothing, the Marissa boot is underminded by her return, atleast they gave her the "well you tried" treatment, with Aiden they went "yea you're an idiot LOL" (actually, they gave this treatment to BRUNO, why not Aiden ? It would have sucked, but it would have sucked a very little less).

I also don't care about his apology to Manu, it's nice, I guees, but again, what made him change his mind, what is this off screen development, imagine if Ernesto didn't have those talks to Ren to help him be more understanding and he went randomly "well, I'm nice now", truly a shame.

He was, in my opinion, one of the most interestng favourite, it felt like his arc was going in one direction but last moment they got sick of writing for him, this could have been a redemption from his DCAS run, but in the end, nothing chnaged (atleast he is getting married to James, that's nice).

Contradiction at the meetup QnA

So, BFDI Mini S1 is the obly canon season, but they reference BFDI MINI Again in TPOT 17 (I will simply assume that those two are canon, the rest of the seasons break the timeline).

I don't like the direction Match took in TPOT 23 (and how it could be turned around).

I'm not sure how much of an unpopular opinion it is, but I believe Match is pretty good in TPOT, I still like the TPOT 18 scene (even if I found a few more flaws that i missed in the initial post) and TPOT 21 continued her story well, wanting to be there for Pencil the same way Bubble was. I believed it made sense with her redemption from BFB, learning to be nicer to her fellow Freesmarters.

My problem arrives in TPOT 23, where Match is really defensive of Pencil, insulting people like Liy, where she had fairly positive interactions in TPOT 11 and even towards people she didn't know, like Winner and Price Tag and giving her excuses, like blaming Liy for Pencil's actions. This doesn't work for me, yes, Pencil needs help, but it's also important to call her out and what worries me is that Match won't do that and it's weird because Match fixed her bevahiour because Bubble called her out.

With that being said, this may actually be pushing Match's story in a diferent way. Match's arc in BFB is about how she tries to act like Pencil, trying to be the leader and despise her failure, Match doesn't stop idolizing Pencil, she doesn't take her actions as wrong, even after her elimination and it's possible that this is the direction her character takes.

When Liy blames Pencil, I wouldn't say she is portrayed as wrong, the show points out how it is her fault (and Liy's, but that isn't important), I'm thinking that they could flip this around and develop Match further, understanding that Pencil is in the wrong, while also helping her.

Now, how could this happened ? I have an idea.

She sees it with her own eyes, if she somehow manages to see what Pencil is doing in the past and she tries to defend it, but she ends up accepting that Pencil is in the wrong. You could also include Fanny and Bubble, what if Fanny starts hating on Pencil and Match tries to deflect the blame, yet Bubble agrees with Fanny, helping Match understand that her way of thinking is wrong.

Match's arc has been a roller coaster, with her sudden elimination in BFB, followed by an overhyped reunion, continued in a great direction in TPOT 21 and now TPOT 23, where it could go really bad or really good.
