any mmo with good lore? or even option to collect it? (mentions of destiny 2, ffxiv, warframe, eso, gw2, WoW...)
I quit destiny 4 years ago (because of FOMO), and have never found a replacement for it. I loved to collect codexes, read them, or the short weapon descriptions. It almost felt like an online dark souls sometimes. The world was mysterious and intriguing, and also not doing way too much.
Lately I have ached more than ever for a world with lore that I can experience with other players, and also collect things in and feel immersed. I really miss being excited to see a story continue to unfold.
I tried ffxiv, but it feels like there is only a story, and not much outside of it (I'm on post stormblood content). I tried gw2, but was a bit underwhelmed by its world. To me, it feels like a marvel fantasy with classical tropes, and everything going back to the elder dragons. I quit warframe after 1999, just extremely confused by everything. I geniually don't understand the timeline, I thought the earth from the past was the same earth as ours? The entire deal with Lua, and Hollovania, puts me off...
Now I set my eyes on WoW and ESO. My concern about ESO Is that it's set in the past of Tamriel. Does that mean most of the lore is basically a retelling of things already known? I also didn't like Skyrim nor Oblivion, so there's that. As for WoW, I'm a bit worried that it has turned into a total "gamish" playground. I can live with a story not being top notch, but as long as the world has some mystery and such, it would be cool. any mmo with good lore? or even option to collect it?
