I’m 23/F and developed genital sores about five days ago. I saw an OB-GYN three days ago who was 99% sure it was HSV. She did a swab test on the area and I got bloodwork done (not for HSV) to rule out several other STDs. She also had me start taking an antiviral before receiving a diagnosis. Yesterday my swab test results came back negative for both types, and my blood work results are coming back negative for other STDs. I’m confused because the sores were very active so if I have HSV the swab should’ve been positive. Has anyone else had a negative swab test but then tested positive with a blood work test? I’m not sure if I need to request a bloodwork test for HSV or if this is something else entirely.

This last week I came down with a stomach bug. No vomit but a consistent mild fever and lots of diarrhea. A couple days ago I noticed some swelling around my vulva and I looked and there were a few red sores, not open but just red and swollen beneath the skin.
Every time I had a bout I was super careful to wipe front to back and avoid contamination. It’s been two days after noticing the sores and they have gotten worse and are now open/more painful than before. There are even some forming on the inner part of my labia not just the outer. I’ve just been rinsing with water and pat drying with a clean washcloth instead of wiping every time I use the bathroom. It’s so painful and I’m not sure if I should put any ointment on it and whether or not I need to go to the doctor? Has anyone experienced something like this?
