Core Music relevance

This is a question for all the Berklee alumni out there doing music (so, still professionally musicians, but in ANY capacity). What is your take on core music? I know it's claimed to be at the heart of Berklee education, but I am wondering if it's building such a strong musicianship as some people think? Did studying Harmony, Conducting, Counterpoint, etc. help you and turned out to be helpful in your professional career? Or do you still look at that as a waste of time? Just curious as I keep hearing all sort of different takes on this (and now even the AI thing-- let's NOT talk about that)
