Regents retake
My child is going to a new HS as a 10th grader in the fall, I checked with the GC for both old and new school (last Friday and today), regarding the retake in August, both GC said as long as the student passed the test, they do not allow retake. My kid got a 81 in the regent biology and I want him to retake, aiming to get into AP Bio in junior year, and aiming for a better diploma to graduate. CUNY/ SUNY are also one of the schools we will definitely apply, so trying to get a higher score is ideal in our scenario.
So here is the question, can we surpass the new HS to register by ourselves? Is it allowed? Will the school accept the higher score if we really find a way to retake? Whom should I approach next to figure out the situation? To me it doesn’t make sense the student cant get a second chance to do better unless he/ she gets below 65.
