Textbooks

Incoming freshman here. I have 2 books that look like they are online already ordered in my account for me. The others have required textbooks listed and a link to order. Do we order them and pick up a physical book at the bookstore or are all the books online?

Intramural sports

Is it true that unless you’re in a fraternity, forming or joint an intramural basketball, pickleball team, flag football etc is hard to do? Like the frats all have their own league and only play each other? Is all this true?

National merit priority registration question

As a national merit scholar I heard students get priority class registration. Anyone know where to find those dates for when priority enrollment opens?

Virtual English 1213

Due to scheduling conflicts I was scheduled a virtual option for this class. Anyone have experience with this? How does this work? Assignments, tests? No professor is assigned.

Physics 2414 for life science oriented majors

No professor listed as yet for this class. Anyone have experiences and advice for this class? Would also like any input on professors and who people liked and did not like. Planning to take along with Bio.

Honors college and FYE

Incoming freshman here. I’m in the Honors college. I would like to apply to the FYRE for my spring semester. Does anyone know if this fulfills the FYE requirement? Or do the Honors Perspectives classes fulfill that? Also, is it very difficult to get a FYRE spot?

Bio classes are full already?

Incoming freshman here. Orientation is Monday and I heard Bio classes are full already. Chemistry is full too. I had planned to take Bio 1 and chem 1. Now I guess I’ll take physics. I don’t see any waitlists online. How does this work?

Chem Professor

Looks like the only 2 professors teaching Gen chem 1315 in the fall are Kabir and Zhou. Pros and cons for both please!! Online reviews are discouraging :(

Physics classes

Physics for life science oriented majors or General physics for Engineering and Science majors? Im thinking the first one since I’m pre med but is the engineering one more universal and better for MCAT? Also insight into which professors people have loved as well as which ones to avoid would be great! Thanks!

2 questions..

  1. When I toured OU our tour guide mentioned there may be a “trick” or way to student tickets to football games? Is this true? If so how?
  2. iPads for note taking? What app does everyone use?

Presidents awards

Curious. What are the honors students that get these spring awards doing on campus that they get selected by a committee for these awards. Especially the award for outstanding Freshmen. In their first year? Is there an application process? In a school that big how are these people standing out and being selected by a committee? Genuinely want to know because I think it’s a great way to contribute but unsure how to go about it

Loci question

Are we supposed to put something to the effect of “ we are willing to pay full price” in a LOCI? I didn’t think so but I’ve seen a few posts lately and made me wonder…

Fraternity yes or no?

Tell me the good and bad, all I need to know about ATO Frat at OU. May want to wait till spring to rush but want to know the culture. Is it just a lot of parties and time commitment? I heard they have some service and philanthropy projects too. Would love to hear any and all feedback. Will be on pre med track so I don’t know what frat time commitments look like either

I’m assuming there’s no data on this but does geographical diversity matter? Like if you’re on the waitlist and come from OK or Nebraska or something… or is it more about majors? People say it’s about “building a class” but I didn’t know if it’s based on Major, academics, EC, or geography or all of the above?
