Edward 1st Penny?
Hi All!
Not super familiar (at all to be honest!) With coins before 1700.. I saw this at a market yesterday for £18 so picked it up for funs. I believe it's an Edward 1st penny, minted in London? It's about 18-19mm wide. Is this right - or anything else you can tell as it looks like there were quite a few variants minted!
A question around coins this age and value/condition for future finds: how does the clipping impact the "condition" overall of a coin? Obviously we would like a whole coin, but given the choice, would you preference a coin with less wear but more clipping/missing, visa versa, or it really comes down to both and the relative proportion of each? (If that makes sense!). Thanks in advance :)
