Bias ply tires and radial mix
I need some honest advice. I bought a set of radial tires, but I ordered the wrong rear size. The rear size my bike actually needs is proving almost impossible to find in a radial. Unfortunately, it’s too late to return the tires, so if I can’t use the front radial I already bought, I’m looking at losing about $600 and then spending another $600 on a completely different set.
Is there any safe, acceptable setup where I run the radial tire I already have on the front and a bias-ply (or belted-bias) tire on the rear? I know matching tires is usually preferred, but I’m trying to understand whether this is a definite “don’t do it” situation or whether there are circumstances where it’s considered acceptable.
The bike is a 2006 Honda VTX 1800S. The front tire is [150/80/15], and the rear tire would be [170/80/15].
