I feel like it has become harder to classify celebrities nowadays because there is no monoculture anymore so the “does my grand-mother test doesn’t work well” on new A-listers. They are also in a weird spot where I feel like everyone has heard of them, A-list celebrities seem ro want to be involved with them, but they are not exactly there yet? I’d classifiy them right between B and A-list.

What is your opinion?

This post isn’t about Manon herself, since she has done nothing wrong, and I guess this is moreso a message to the mods; when do people get banned for being repeatedly hostile towards others here?

Manon discourse is pretty much impossible because her fans attack anyone with a dissenting opinion on her, constantly attack others of racism for anything that isn’t glaze towards her and then turn around and consistently claim the sub hates her?

Every other member is fair game for discussion in this sub, and at most if you say something negative, you’ll receive downvotes. With Manon you get borderline brigaded, have insults thrown at you and get accused of racism. And it’s A L W A Y S the same users, and yet there are no consequences.

Is it mass psychosis? By possibly every metric the group is obviously extremely popular and has had a fast rise yet so many here swear they are a niche thing, d-listers who are only known by 9 year olds.

What would it take for some of you to recognise that despite the fact you don’t like their management, their songs, whatever, they are massively successful?

This isn’t even about Manon specifically because I was side-eyeing Hybe when I saw that Dream Academy didn’t have a single contestant who was born in Africa or dark-skinned but somehow even putting that aside they managed to end up without anyone remotely black in the group.

And given their meteoric rise, the visibility of the group and their entire concept,…. i’m just sad.

ETA: somehow a post as simple as « I’m sad this group I’m into with a global concept, has no black rep » has turned into fighting.
