Can I Pass Without Cardio, Neuro & 700 Med Qs?
My exam is on October 21. I started studying about two months ago, but unfortunately, I’ve only completed around 1,000 UWorld questions so far.
Time is getting tight, and from what I’ve heard, Pediatrics, OBGYN, Psychiatry, ethics and Public Health are some of the highest-yield areas.
My current plan is:
Spend one full month focusing on OBGYN + Psychiatry
Spend the remaining ~20 days on Toronto Notes, mainly the important chapters such as Ethics and Public Health, rather than trying to read the entire book
Complete the CMPA material
Do the 9 practice tests
Hopefully have enough time to do some Ethics questions from AMBOSS
I don’t find reading Toronto Notes very efficient for me. It’s dense and complicated, and I feel like I forget a lot of what I read the next day. I feel like doing questions is much more useful for retention.
The main concern is that I will be going into the exam without properly studying Cardiology, Neurology, and around 700 Medicine questions.
I’m currently studying full-time, but realistically I can’t do more than ~40 questions per day. I really want to get this exam done because I’m hoping to start working soon, and I don’t think I’ll be able to study effectively once I have a job.
Do you think it’s reasonable to sit the exam with Cardio, Neuro, and a significant portion of Medicine still relatively untouched?
Would you stick with my current plan and prioritize high-yield topics, or would you change the strategy and try to cover the remaining Medicine/Cardio/Neuro questions before the exam?
I’d really appreciate honest advice from anyone who has recently taken the exam or has been in a similar situation.
