Travelling from England to Norway by train with a dog

So I’m moving to Norway with my dog!

We’re heading off in September and all his paperwork is being completed by the time we leave.

I’ve been looking at the best route possible work a few weeks now and I’m going around in circles… basically I’m trying to avoid railjet - they seem to have a very odd/expensive pet policy.

We reach hook of Holland at 8am on the 3rd September then will have to carry on by train across Germany, Denmark, Sweden then Norway.

So far the best route with the least time wasted I could find was to get a train from Rotterdam to, then Hamburg, then to Copenhagen, then to Gothenburg and finally to Oslo.

Obviously there are several changes in between the above, which can make the trip much longer… right now I’m looking at staying in Halmstad overnight then carry on From there to Gothenburg the next morning. But I am also considering going to fredericia then Copenhagen then Gothenburg because the transfer times are shorter and I’d not need to sleep in a random city on the 3rd.

Has anyone done this trip? What’s the best route? And the dog policy/ticket costs across these countries? 🤯

ADHD and the Mirena coil

When I was researching this topic I couldn’t find much information and sadly ended up getting the Mirena coil 4 months ago.

What a big f up from my side, huh? After getting the coil, I was able to look up the correct key words to find the info I needed beforehand.

In short, Mirena releases levonorgestrel which is a synthetic version of progesterone** **, mostly in a localised way but obviously some of the hormone will enter your blood stream - do not let anyone tell you it’s not going to happen because it will - there is a lot of information about this online.

This said, high levels of progesterone is what causes brain fog, low motivation, mood swings and so on (pms). This is because the high level of progesterone basically kills off dopamine in your brain - this is specially bad for us, ADHD ladies.

Now imagine your brain naturally craving dopamine because it doesn’t have/respond well enough to the little it has, and then you add extra synthetic progesterone into your body… your dopamine receptors are fighting for their life but the synthetic hormones being pumped into your blood stream are killing off any dopamine boost you could get had those hormones maintained the normal balance with your menstrual cycle.

I take elvanse and it was a godsend to me until Mirena got in the way… the doctor I spoke with reassured me mirena would not interfere with elvanse as there is no proven study to confirm any links… they fail you tell you the hormone interferes with dopamine receptors…

I had mirena fitted 4 months ago and my adhd symptoms are worse than they’ve ever been, despite taking medication… I can only imagine what I’d be like if I wasn’t taking elvanse.

The brain fog, the “seeing and not computing”, the fatigue, poor sleep, irritability, etc is so scary, I don’t even recognise myself at this stage.

Having the coil removed on 1st August and hoping to have this dang hormone increase out of my system fast!

Obviously everyone’s experience is different and I’d like to find out if anyone has experienced this too… and if doctors should be advising adhd patients that mirena is suitable without much knowledge of how the brain works…
