NeeDohs and other Squishies have made my job miserable
I work at a card shop, we primarily sell Pokemon cards (both singles and sealed product, though mostly singles for obvious reasons). It's been a good time. I love my regulars, it's a hobby I enjoy that I get to work in, we have a zero tolerance policy for resellers, and I like my coworkers.
Ever since the squishy craze took off, we started stocking some. Mostly the bootleg dumplings and the real NeeDoh cubes and squishy butters.
They have since started outselling cards to the point where it's the only thing being purchased in the register every time we take a look at our transactions. Our squishy stock increases every time I go to work. My regulars are coming in less and less because the squishy people are too much. The Needohs have cannibalized a card case. Anyone coming in to sell cards to us has used at least some of the money they get out of it to buy a fucking squishy.
This stupid fucking craze has changed me from someone working in card games into a fucking squishy peddler. It has changed a job I loved being at to just regular degular retail bullshit with the added bonus of needing to deal with insufferable squishy people and obnoxious 12 year olds.
I hope tiktok moves on to its next hyperfixation soon and that it's not something my store has access to because never before has a shop simply carrying a product made me consider quitting.
I don't even care if you're not a scalper and genuinely like these stupid things. Your hobby is actively ruining my job and my mental and you should feel bad.
