Emily lost her battle today
Been awhile since I posted, but today my 4 year old girl lost her battle. She hung on to the bitter end, despite thinking she was not gonna pull through the weekend.
She was clearly declining Friday, but I have been dealing with the aftermath of a death in the family all week and through Sunday, so we decided on palliative care until today. Unfortunately on Saturday, she went on a severe downward spiral and it ripped me apart seeing her that way.
My vet was great through the whole process this morning. Just wish something could have been done to save her.
Rest in peace, Emily, you were the strongest kitty I knew ❤️

Vet is pretty sure it's not CKD or AKD now.
On week 3 of this whole thing. Just got her 3rd blood test results back and they continue to get worse. All while on prescription diet, taking aluminum hydroxide, and receiving SQ fluids. Most likely cause is genetic, so we are switching to palliative care with bloodwork only if I want her to get it.
This won't end the way I wanted it to, but I can't say I didn't try.

Just got the kidney failure call
My 4 year old void cat has severe kidney failure. Zero signs other than weight-loss, which I had chalked up to worms (saw my other cat had them) and made the appointment thinking that's all it would be. Starting her 3 day hospitalization (plus 2 days of home treatment) tomorrow, hopefully she'll come back from it.
