residency lottery

so i haven’t really seen anyone talking about this but im so shocked at how quickly residency was selected this year. i had a slot on tuesday at 2pm and all of gizowski was selected which was surprising since i heard that monday was varsity and everyone else started tuesday, however the actual surprising part was that what was left was around 10-15 singles for every other college and they were disappearing as i selected mine

how were people who had slots even the next day able to find a single? was it open for everyone monday or just varsity? and how is that if at trent there’s apparently 80% singles, but they were all gone after a day and a half?? if anyone has any answers please comment!

really conflicted - advice?

okay so I know I left this to the last minute but I’ve been conflicted with my decision so i’ve kinda been avoiding it

i’m deciding between trent durham and trent peterborough after weeding out laurier and western. western was my number one after applying but I plan on going to law school or getting my masters in business after my undergrad so I’m trying to focus on a school that i can get a higher gpa at in the end. I’ll either end up going to western, queens, or uoft for that but as of now i think trent (or possibly laurier) is the best option for this and will be a much easier transition from highschool life.

I live very close to trent durham so i’d just be commuting and probably coming straight home after. the thing is the school is absolutely dead and boring and i know this but staying local would allow me to get a job and save up for the things i really want, which would be harder to do in peterborough especially for first year. I would also be closer to my family and friends and like i said would be a much easier transition into university life as i intend to do 4+ years.

trent peterborough is beautiful and the residencies (gizowski and lady eaton to be specific) really make me feel like i’d get the university experience ive been excited for. i really want to experience the dorm life but living on res would mean living in peterborough and after going through the city it seems like a mini toronto but with less to do and way less diversity

ive also seen people say that trent peterborough isn’t as diverse as they make it seem and it’s just boring overall which really isn’t what i think of when i picture myself in university

honestly i just don’t know what to do at this point because both paths have many pros and cons and laurier as well as it just seemed very cliquey and the campus was mid to me

if anyone can offer any insight or advice i appreciate it so much
