Takeaway
Unfortunately I’m staying in Brighton hospital for the foreseeable future and me and my partner were wondering what good places were for take aways for the odd occasion, thanks

I’m mid 30’s with 2 kids, I have a construction company that just about puts bread on the table, I have 0 savings and 0 pensions. Will never be able to retire etc. other than dying early (high possibility with the amount of things I’ve inhaled on site) and the family getting some sort of insurance pay out. How else could I possibly make enough to retire? Let alone early
Had a 5kg brisket, put it in about 11am, wrapped at about 72, but then the kamado went out, re lit it and got it back up to temp. Then the wife’s waters broke so had to go hospital so had to shut everything down. Was only in a couple hours, so re lit the bbq again, pulled it at 95 (which was about 12:30) then held it in the oven at 70 through the night.
Didn’t turn out to bad considering
I’ve got a family bbq on Sunday and they’ve asked me to bring a brisket. Because of timings I’m thinking of cooking it Saturday mid day till night then wrap in foil and hold in the oven at around 70degrees till the next day.
But I’d like to hear other people’s ideas and advice
I work for a developer, developer being a loose term. Somehow gets work for the very wealthy and it’s all local. It’s always date rate work but for some reason he takes months to pay me, yet everyone else gets paid weekly. Currently owes me around 10k and this just seems to be a rolling amount for about a year.
The money won’t set the world on fire but is okay. But the delays cripple my cash flow. But I do get to work local (never further than 10mins from door to door)in gated communities etc so the vans always safe. Just wondering what others would do in this situation?
First brisket yesterday, was just a Sainsbury’s one, sat on the kamado till about 75, wrapped and put back on till 95 then rested in the oven for an hour.
Any one got any advice on how to make it that little bit better?
Priced up some outside lights, went and had a meeting with him the next day; and first thing he said is “how can we make that cheaper?”
I could have given him any price and still feel like that would have been the same response.
May look unprofessional on WhatsApp but so much easier to get responses off customers and have a conversation about the work
Become an electrician they said, lots of money they said
Found some short ribs on sale in Sainsbury’s so thought I’d give them a try. First time cooking short ribs on the Aldi kamado. Struggled keeping the temperature at around 110-120 as it was almost like the coals were going out. But got the fan on it at lunch and got the temp back up then the wife took them off after about 7 hours. Turned out okay despite the problems
Anyone know of an automatic door guy in the Surrey area? Been lumbered with some doors which are well out of my remit and I’m out my depth
Video attached to show what I’m dealing with
Remember lads just keep grafting no matter how tough it gets, I’m currently sat outside stressed out my mind as I’m owed about 15k. But hearing the council house next door laughing and joking in their new massive hot tub.
Nice feeling knowing my hard earned money is putting a smile on those less fortunate (got 4 roofing vans on the drive and probably earn more than what I do, but hey ho)
Anyone feel extra pressure when a customer wants to wait for you. I keep telling customers there’s a million other sparks out there that will probably do it cheaper and yet they say they will wait. Then can’t help feeling like there’s no room for error etc
To the point where I recommend other sparks in the area or just tell them I’m closing the business. I’m just an average sparks and a shit businessman 😂
Saw a post earlier about conduit so thought I’d share one of mine, recently ruined my foot with a 3rd degree burn so very limited what I can do, so attempted to try do a length with multiple bends in one go.
Always enjoy Abit of conduit but don’t do anywhere near enough as I’m normally a house basher, and taught myself it through many trial and errors
First time ever trying to cook something low and slow, thought I’d picked up a brisket but realised it was a silverside beef when got home (stupid I know) ended up a bit on the dry side unfortunately, but hopefully next weekend we’ll go again with a different cut
I bought a Aldi egg in all the hype a few months back. Unboxed it today and literally didn’t know where to start, so literally just chucked a couple sausages on and messed around with the temps
Can anyone recommend a good YouTube page to watch (preferably not an over the top American)
Or a relatively straightforward meat with some cooking instructions.
Or some accessories you couldn’t live without!
Would be much appreciated thank you
After my last post had mixed reviews on earth rods I’d like to know people opinions on them, especially around hot tubs and out builds, when you would and wouldn’t use them etc
Have been away and forgot to energise the hot tub supply. Came back today to energise and test and was greeted with this
Fed up customers telling how good it must be to be an electrician as “everyone needs one” and “they’re all loaded” from someone living in a house that I would never be able to afford, even if my wife was an electrician as well. And seem to do far less than me (have all day to stand around and chat opposed to doing any sort of work) so is it really that good a job?
Anyone just not bother doing call outs anymore? Everytime I go to one, the place is always completely fucked and I make safe what I can and fix as best I can, then get home and think “do I really want any sort of paper work linking me to that house” so just don’t bother invoicing.
Not the right attitude I know. But domestic is shit 😂
Was a joy trying to change the pump on this yesterday, and of course the stuffing gland failed on the new cable. Running around like a headless chicken trying to get a new one whilst the pond emptied.
Who in their right mind designed this 😂
