What happened to basic humanity?

I’m genuinely disgusted by some of the comments I’ve seen locally following the deaths of three people near Shoreham.

Before their identities were known, people expressed sadness and concern. Once they were known, some of that turned into outright racism.

Three people have died and families are grieving.

Their ethnicity doesn’t make their deaths any less tragic.

It’s particularly horrible seeing people apparently feel comfortable posting or supporting this stuff publicly, under their own names, as though there should be absolutely no consequences for it.

Whatever your views on immigration, basic humanity shouldn’t be conditional.

I’m the wasp from John from East Sussex Roofing’s bag of donuts, my side of the story

Seen a lot of nasty rumours flying around here, time time set the record straight.

I was being pursued by a particularly voracious bird, so I sought shelter in the first place I saw. However, once I was inside, I discovered there were some bald blokes donuts, then I heard a feminine shriek and next thing I knew I was being pelted out onto the roadside.

That’s all there is to it

Now buzz off

East Sussex Roofing 👎

Shout out to East Sussex Roofing - driving through the beautiful countryside in Clayton and chucking their rubbish out their window while they go.

Irresponsible & lazy - not sure those are traits I’d want in someone doing my roof repairs

It's going to be so green in a few days

That rain was great. You just know all the plants are gonna drink that right up, especially after that long stretch of no rain. Every plant that can be green will be green in a few days, it's going to be amazing. I love how green it gets here

Lost bag of donuts

Myself and 3 other men were just leaving this hotel in Claydon when we found a bag of donuts on the ground. I have to say thanks to John, after the last hour, it was like a reward

We need to do more to protect people from the sea

I was at the beach today in Brighton and it was windy with choppy seas, not good for swimming. There was a lifeguard on duty east the pier, but further down there was a big group of people who were clearly tourists taking pictures fully clothed in the sea. They were messing about, pulling each other into the waves and kept falling over and seemed completely unaware of any danger.

I think if people don't grow up by the sea, they simply don't understand how dangerous it can be or how easy it is to get into difficulty. Nor how difficult it is to swim in waterlogged clothes. As a city that runs on tourism, we should be doing more to warn visitors about the dangers of the sea, and about Brighton specifically- that there is a shelf that drops down into deeper water, and currents around the pier.

I was going to make this post before I heard the news of the three people who tragically died in Shoreham today, and the little girl who was hospitalised. I just don't want things like this to keep happening along our coastline, this is preventable and we need to do something about it.

I’m the side of the road where the doughnuts landed, here’s my side of the story.

I was just minding my own business in Clayton when suddenly a bag of doughnuts came flying through the air and absolutely slapped me.

I had no warning. No apology. Nothing. The bellend in the van didn’t even stop to check if I was okay, neither did the car with the disgruntled driver that followed after.

I don’t appreciate being slapped with wasp infested doughnuts and then being blamed for the state of the road.

That is all, that’s it and I don’t appreciate being slandered about it, thanks.

Loving the rain right now

It's 4:50am and it's been raining for about 20 minutes. Seagulls seem to be enjoying it I can hear them squarking away!

Serious incident at Kingston Beach

Avoid the coast road towards Shoreham. A lifeboat went out about an hour ago, might already be back, at least 20 emergency vehicles here including two helicopters on the beach by the RNLI building.

Witness/footage appeal: assault outside Fortune of War, 14th August, ~11pm

Hi all, hoping someone here might be able to help.

On Friday 14th August at around 11pm, my partner and I were queuing outside Fortune of War when three men tried to jump the queue. When we asked them not to, they attacked my partner. It was three against one, he was thrown to the ground, and kicked, and I stepped in to help fight them off.

This happened in front of the venue’s door security, who didn’t intervene. We’ve already reported this to Sussex Police and have a crime reference number, and CCTV is being requested.

If you were in the queue that night or around that area of the beach and you have any photos or video (even just background footage from that time), I’d really appreciate you getting in touch.

Thanks so much in advance 🙏

what's the music/creative scene like these days?

musician and music producer here - every time ive visited its been for leisure and just ended up with me on the beach or in my room creating music (11/10 experiences all 3 times), but i need to get out more 😂 so my question!

if i were to move permanently & be more social and active specifically within the music scene what would that look like? where would you go first ? how would you start if you were a completely independent musician w no local connects ?
