Had anyone had experience with Dice Saloon supposedly hosting daily chess?

Dice Saloon Mon-Fri 12:00-19:00, Sat-Sun 10:00-19:00

The Earth & Stars Tuesdays 19:00-23:00

The Great Eastern Tuesdays evenings

The Sidewinder Tuesday from 18:00

The Cow in Seven Dials Wednesday nights

The Cow in Seven Dials on Wednesday nights has a pretty active chess club - am a regular there and they do drink discounts if you’re playing.

FOR BACKGAMMON GAME

The Dorset on Tuesdays at 7pm. It’s a very casually arranged night, all completely for fun, in case anyone’s interested

An online survey is open until 14 October 2026 to replace Brighton's beloved Floral Clock

An online survey is open until 14 October 2026. Ultimately there are three options:

A sculptural armillary sphere (globe sundial)

A new sculpture inspired by the original, with a fixed clock face showing 19:53 and a public competition to design the artwork

Handing the site to a community group

There are over 50 Heritage Open Days events taking place across Brighton & Hove from 11 - 20 September

To help you get started we've highlighted a few of them below. Although before we begin we would like to give an extra special mention to the team at the Regency Town House as in addition to the events happening at their own venue, they have also organised a lot of the other walks, talks & tours.
