Worst dead ever!!!

Worst dead ever!!!

My character was 40 days intro the apocalipsis, it was a burger flipper with hunter, bushcrafter and fast learner. The idea was short blade and spear combo, soo much fun (extintion settings, but 1% sprinters, no respawn, pinpoint hearing).

I play with no infection mortality, so i can role play treating the wounds. Level up pottery so i can make a mortal for plantain poultices.

As always, low fence fighting, a zombie lunge, i fell to the ground, another zed lacerated my neck, i was bleeding but i was able con put a bandage in time. That night i slept with some vodka. Next morning, y prepared to change the bandage with the poultice (completly innecesary really), remove the bandage, neck still bleeding, missclick to aply the poulticec(my son distracted me) and press f5, when i realice it was too late, no time to put bandage back on. Died in the kitchen, alone, no zombies around. It was a very interesting run, leveled up electric to +3, found a generator in a basement, maybe 50 lts of gas (counting the car), i was slowly going for the irvinton gas station (endless zombies).

I created a new character to continue the jorney, its his best friend, a welder who is a baseball player as hobbie. He finally reach his friend house to find him dead, so he made a tomb for him in the backyard but his friend refuses to get in the hole (just stand up and walk away to die again), so he burn him in a campfire, the grave its purely simbolical.

I dont like to create new characters in old saves but i asume 42.20 will hit soon i will start fresh then.

Whats the point of berries??

I love foraging and bushcrafter, its a must for my builds, love knowing form the start wich mushroom and berries are dangerous. I can cook mushrooms (cooking hp) and they can reduce a nice amount of hunger, but berries on the other hand ughhh, a lot of them are poisonous and the ones that are safe to eat reduce hunger in 1-3 points (some cooked mushrooms reduce up to -13), so there is something i'm missing about berries?? Calories, none, hunger none, happiness??

Edit: i'm playing burger flipper right now (+30 bonus for foraging junk food) and all junk food i found its rotten (pie, cake, etc)

Holes in boots???

I've a few questions regarding footware in general, mainly about holes in them.

In my experience, if a zombie has a 100% condition boots, they are perfect but if it has 90% or less, there is always a hole in them, and that put your foot protection to 0%.

I asume that if a walk over broken glass with those boots, i'm going to get glass stuck in my foot. For that reason, i grab all the boots i can and change them when the condition goes to 70% , i dont wanna take the risk of a foot damage in a loot run.

But what actions creates the holes?? Can a pair of boots end up with a hole for simple walking? Stomping zombies? Walking over glass?? Or it has to be a crawler's attack (like holes in clothes in general).

am i wasting my boots by changing them at 70% condition?? Its not really a problem, always ending up with a crate full with boots buti dont know if its really necesary changing them soo often.

Heartbrake!! That is how i die (anticlimatic)

I lost my character in the dumbest way possible. Level 10 Short Blunt, a well-built house, plenty of supplies, hundreds of liters of gasoline, and 3 generators. 12,000 zombies killed, and Irvington was almost completely cleared out. I tried to kill a small group of zeds (no sprinters) at a low fence. They started climbing over, so I backed up, and one lunging zombie somehow "reached" me (the distance they can cover is absolutely ridiculous!!!!). Another one that had already gotten back on its feet lacerated my neck, and the one that knocked me down injured my leg. I couldn't get far enough away to bandage myself. I tried to fight my way out, but I ended up bleeding to death. Very, very anticlimactic.

I'm going to start a new run, but my heart is in pain.

What items do you always carry with you?

I'm playing with extintion settings (just 1% sprinters) and wanna how do you guys handle you essencials. I always take the organize trait.

I usually go for 2 fanny packs (upgrade to and alice belt eventually)...

  • 1 fanny goes a pouch, inside the pouch i put pen/multicolor/crayons (whatever i found), a spoon (to fancy eating) (the pouch its to reduce the visual clutering and those items are used even without unpacking), 3 o 4 garbage bags, lighter, reading glasses (if i dont have them on my, i loose them), batery, a rubber house.

*2nd fanny pack (medical): bandages (3 or 4), painkillers, cafein pills, betablokers. No longer carry alcohol because i dont clean the wounds in the field.

Satchel: food... usually a few cooked mushroms. And some lemongrass.

Belt: 1) weapon. 2) water canteer (i go for low tirsth so 900 ml last me all day).

Backpack: starts being a mess lately. Always a claw hammer, screwdriver, any knife, spare weapons (2 or 3 short blunts), a flashlight (usually heavy dutty), half mask respirator (too many bodies!!!!! Bandana doesnt cut it), a extra respirator filter.

In the car i leave a backpack with car manteinence tools, welding torch and mask.

The loot runs goes "kill everything" ... fill the backpack, fill garbage bags, put them in the trunk, repeat until dark/no more trunk space/getting hurt, then go home.

However, i just feel i carry too much!!!!!

Not a single generator in irvinton

I'm playing sandbox, with the extintion settings except for sprinters in 1% and pinpoint hearing, respawn off. Spawn in irvinton. Its really challenging, zombies are way too reactive to my presence and there is always one or two coming at my at full speed. Found a generator magazine in day 1 (in a van), then a 2do magazine in another van in the first week. At almost two months still no generator. I've killed 10.000 zombies (and there are still a lot), looted the storage unit and almost all garages, not a single generator. Living in the dark was terrifing at first but now i've adapter and its really fun, change completly my playstile. Anyone else has some nice experiences plating without electricity??
