Filling indoor trough with water (B42.18)

What's the easiest way to fill a big indoor trough with water for winter?
Is there a way to do it with rain barrels and a sink, or am I doomed to do it with a bucket?

What would you do?

While exploring a randomly generated burned house, this poor fella fell into the basement. Luckily he's not dead, but there's no way out since the stairs got burned...

It's day 4. Would you consider this a fair death, or would you use debug mode to get out and continue the run?

Been losing motivation to play, need a challenge

I love PZ but recently I can't find the motivation to get past like 30 mins of gameplay. Does anyone have any cool challenges (mods or no mods) I could try?

I have no clue what to do - even more so with a M16

I started this playthrough maybe... 30 minutes ago? Longest I've played a run so far. Still trying to figure out exactly what do to, because I am struggling a little right now

(My character) Who am I? For how long have the Zombies been here? How experienced am I? Is this my house? Do I have a family? Did they die? What am I suppose to do? Survive I suppose, but the house feels safe enough, why risk it all elsewhere?

Also finding a M16 + M9 with 4 mags each while I have no idea how to repair a window feels like WAY TOO MUCH power in my hands. I can tell I will probably die before getting to use them lol

Anyway, any tips about what to do? What's my objective here? Do I want to build a house, settle elsewhere, ugh Idk

Worst dead ever!!!

My character was 40 days intro the apocalipsis, it was a burger flipper with hunter, bushcrafter and fast learner. The idea was short blade and spear combo, soo much fun (extintion settings, but 1% sprinters, no respawn, pinpoint hearing).

I play with no infection mortality, so i can role play treating the wounds. Level up pottery so i can make a mortal for plantain poultices.

As always, low fence fighting, a zombie lunge, i fell to the ground, another zed lacerated my neck, i was bleeding but i was able con put a bandage in time. That night i slept with some vodka. Next morning, y prepared to change the bandage with the poultice (completly innecesary really), remove the bandage, neck still bleeding, missclick to aply the poulticec(my son distracted me) and press f5, when i realice it was too late, no time to put bandage back on. Died in the kitchen, alone, no zombies around. It was a very interesting run, leveled up electric to +3, found a generator in a basement, maybe 50 lts of gas (counting the car), i was slowly going for the irvinton gas station (endless zombies).

I created a new character to continue the jorney, its his best friend, a welder who is a baseball player as hobbie. He finally reach his friend house to find him dead, so he made a tomb for him in the backyard but his friend refuses to get in the hole (just stand up and walk away to die again), so he burn him in a campfire, the grave its purely simbolical.

I dont like to create new characters in old saves but i asume 42.20 will hit soon i will start fresh then.

Guns unlimited

Me and my friends run to guns unlimited (b42). Almost all guns in the store but we lost one car full of loot on the way home. The bookshelf’s are full of ammo.

b42 spawn system sucks, i want my profession based spawns back

i heard that in b42 there is no more profession based spawns and i wanted to test it myself. last night i created a new lumberjack guy and normally i should be spawn in mid to bad house with lots of lumberjack flavors but the system was gone. i spawn in some kind of rich house right outside of the rosewood. but that wasn't the worst part. when i went downstairs i saw a hidden survivor bunker with a radio, trenches, armory, blood everywhere and some line written on the wall with blood that says "keep them out" or something like that. what the hell could have happened in first day of the apocalypse bro, and why the hell am i in that house in very first moment? i think that system kills the vibe and makes the game kinda easy

These gas prices are making people crazy these days

To think hooking up a generator to the local gas station would be such a hassle.

CDDA sudden death after 1 hour

Ive been starting CDDA in build 42, but i keep dying after 1 hour. Seemily right on the hour. This is vanilla, completely unmodded.

Ill have the beginning of a run set up- ill pull the glass, rip a curtain, bandage the wound, get some clothes (sometimes fully clothed!) And manage to escape to either the nearby house or the north field and clear myself of threats. Great!

But then I'll just... die. Suddenly. I tried a lot of runs, keeping my health panel up. This last run, i managed to make it with ~70% of my health left, a bunch of clothes, and some medical supplies. Im doing good.

Then, i catch my health jumping downwards, about 25% per second. And then... im dead. This run where i had a lot of health to start is the only one to reach the 2 hour mark- every other one says 1 hour.

Does anyone know whats killing me? Im not standing near corpses, i dont have prone to sickness nor weak stomach, i have outdoorsy... what on earth is killing me?

Move fences?

Is there any way to move these fences to another location without destroying them first? Or is it possible to build them using metallurgy?

First time making it for 14 days in Apocalypse mode

After 180 hours in this game I finally reached the days where water and power shuts off (usually plays with them never shutting off). Now in a vanilla run Apoclypse mode, miraculously reached the north houses at Louisville and set up a base there. I probably already checked 50 houses and yet still no generator magazine lol.

Also planning to raid the mini military posts at South Park Road, had to leave my whole car with my whole supplies as I panicked and got it stuck so I had to leave on foot. This is my whole armory level 0 aiming and reloading though. I feel like sticking to shotgun and not touching the rifles/carbine until I level up is the right choice but I need your guys opinions.

Should I touch grass?

For context, I’ve been playing Project Zomboid for almost two years now on a B41 vanilla multiplayer server for long-term survival, so these skill levels definitely didn’t happen overnight, LOL... It’s honestly wild looking back at how long it takes to build a character up! Maybe it's time to touch grass? Lol jk... kinda. Stay safe out there!

Repairing a Mod (Help)

Hey guys, I took a crack at making a few mods a while back, and the game has gotten away on me. To be honest I have zero experience in coding and made my mods without really knowing exactly what I was doing. There is one I have (Crash Dummies) that I would really like to get working again. It was my least popular mod, but it was a labor of love, and my favourite.
Is there anyone here with modding experience that could possibly take a look at the files and see if it’s salvageable at all?
Just to be clear, I’m not asking for someone to do the work, I just need someone with more experience to point me in the right direction. If it’s a catastrophic mess, then I’ll forget about it.
You can find it on the Steam workshop under “Crash Dummies” or through my username there “EdwinJanssen”.
If you take the time to look, I really appreciate it.

Cheers guys

M224 Mortar Mod update progress

Some of the progress i have made on updating my M224 mortar mod.

original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/s/8hq25Az7V9

  • 3 new shell types. alongside the existing HE there is now a lighter, smaller yet more accurate version and a HE-L which is bigger, stronger, heavier but drastically less accurate. also added incendiary shells which detonate like the smaller HE but with fire now.
  • 3d modeled container for shells that also spawn naturally at bases on the ground. mortars can directly access shells from the crates 1 tile around them. (player loots and shoots automatically of course, no shells teleporting).
  • 3d modeled (but very early WIP) binoculars that can further enhance multiplayer/singleplayer spotting experience with detailed information on azimuth, elevation, distance and wind speed.
  • As an added bonus to having the binoculars you can see the shell dispersion range visually unlike on map plotting tools.
  • Proper yet not hardcore maintenance system for added realism.
  • Shell ballistics dramatically improved, dispersing on al ellipse instead of a random circle. shell dispersion affected by weather, wind and many more modifiers.
  • Added proper sound effects for lower conditions on mortar tube and also a few types of misfires. Failure to eject, lower flight distance etc.
  • Added shell degradation if left out under rain and moisture, causing major problems like misfires and massive dispersion. (visible by the dryness bar on mortar ui)

*to do:

  • different sound effects depending on area: urban, forest, tall buildings, indoors and etc.
  • will add the function to fill up the house with smoke if lands in a building. if it has electronics inside with electricity, they can now blow up and start a fire.
  • proper animations for loading the shells, standing beside the mortar, aiming binoculars and etc. (i have no idea how im going to do that, if anyone has experience please contact me).
  • i do already have a very detailed sandbox option tab but will make it so that every single necessary modifier is exposed to the players and admins alike.

This is how I died

I've never seen snow.

That morning, I listened to the emergency broadcast. Possibility of light snow in the evening, or something like that. I was excited. I've never seen snow.

I figured I had time. I could head to Brandenburg and grab the ammo and guns I had to leave behind because I couldn't tow the Franklin Valuline I had filled to the brim. I figured I could take my own box truck and transfer the loot there, turn around and be back home to watch the snow fall.

It was stupid, really. I didn't want to draw more attention to myself, so I used a hunting knife instead of my shotgun. But I wasn't used to the range; I usually use axes and long blunts. I didn't judge the distance well. Maybe I should have backpedaled a bit more. Or worn more protection. Or maybe I shouldn't have gone back for the ammo. I didn't need it, the armory was well-stocked.

I can hear my chickens, my cows, and my sheep. I can hear birds in the distance. I thought they'd have flown south by now. I wonder if my sunflowers will bloom.

I should have just looked for more clay. The smithy's walls were just half done, and I needed the clay for cement. Or just spent the day cutting down trees to make sure the stove had enough fuel. I should have-

I guess none of that matters now. What matters is the race between the infection and the bleach. I think the infection is winning.

I didn't even get to see snow.
