When thinking about TPOT 23 simply as a "Part 1", and less as an individual episode, I think it's pretty good

Im not gonna go over the issues; you've heard them thousands of times by now. But, long story short, this episode was purely setting things up for the future. On first watch, I was disappointed, gonna be honest. But after constant rewatches for my TPOT 23 Overview, it's definitely heavily flawed. But for a "beginning of a trilogy" episode? I think it does it's job. Messy, albeit; but it does it's job.

Golf Ball's position in the Fandom has always been pretty polarizing to me

Golf Ball is easily one of BFDI's most popular characters. She's one of, if not the most consistently predicted TPOTer to reach the finale, and overall has a pretty captivating personality. Her development has always been overshadowed, but when given enough attention, it's noticeable.

So why is Golf Ball almost never brought up in any discussion? Within the fandom, I primarily see distaste for her aggressive, bossy mannerisms, despite votes proving otherwise. She doesn't seem to have a "silent fanbase" similar to Price Tag, Black Hole, or Winner. But, at least from my experiences, it's rare to ever see her be brought up in BFDI discourse.

Why haven't we considered TPOT 23 being at VidCon?

Now that I'm thinking about it, it seems so obvious. It's this week from the 25th to the 27th, and we got 2 coming soon posts, which to my knowledge seems to be the first time we've gotten more than one community post SPECIFICALLY saying "Coming Soon".

The perfect imperfection of Donut's logic

Donut is such a perplexing character in TPOT. His character growth overall could be a whole other post, but I'm here to primarily talk about how he thinks.

In TPOT 16, we see Pencil supposedly being a detriment to CloudYAY, hurting Yellow Face to get away from Four, disrespecting Tape, and throwing Donut out of the van's window. Donut then snaps (no, it's not a crashout) at Pencil, exclaiming how he believes she's too centric; she only thinks about herself, and what she can gain from whatever she does. Pencil, on the other hand, says that she's the only one putting in effort to actually be a benefit to the team, while everyone else is basically just there. Donut then says that this self-proclaimed "effort" shouldn't come at the cost of everyone else, no matter your intentions.

Donut does appear to just be stating the obvious; Pencil can't just do whatever she wants, because it can hurt others. But what Donut fails to realize is why she's doing this. Now, I should clarify: Pencil’s behavior is NOT Donut’s fault! But he fails to recognize her drive. Pencil’s drive, not wanting to risk going back to the EXIT. While she doesn’t know if elimination sends you to the EXIT, she does know that she lost everything while in there; most importantly, her dynamics and FreeSmart. Likely, she doesn’t want that to happen again. So, she becomes hard so she can focus on the competition, not get eliminated, and therefore not lose any of her friends anymore. But by doing this, she simultaneously pushes people away.

Donut is looking at Pencil from a purely moral view. His saying what she’s doing is wrong, and she needs to change her behavior, is 100% in line with his character. He was more hardheaded in BFDIA, but grew to be cooperative, leaderful, and helpful towards his teammates. During the conflict between Donut and Golf Ball, his developed traits truly show. He tries to tell Golf Ball that winning isn’t everything, and that she has to consider how her acquaintances feel in relation to her ideas. Golf Ball says winning is a priority, and she really just wants to push her teammates to victory. A good part of this arc is that both sides are neither fully right nor wrong; Donut’s views are moral, while Golf Ball’s views are strategic. This moral view is consistent with Donut, as shown in TPOT 16. Because he prioritizes others & making sure he can accommodate everyone, it’d make sense for him to look at things in a broader view. He seems to care more about the effect rather than the cause. He doesn’t initially see any ulterior motives to Pencil’s wrongdoings. He simply sees that she’s prioritizing himself, and he believes the way she does it is wrong. He does justify caring for Pencil by saying that he tried to check up on her during TPOT 16’s elimination. It’s almost like a technicality. Just because he checked up on her doesn’t mean he fully understands what she’s doing, nor does it mean he doesn’t care. He seems to use it as a building block to be able to counter Pencil’s argument, rather than understanding her side.

So essentially, Donut’s views on Pencil’s behavior are generally seen as morally correct, but that’s it. He’s not factoring in what made her act like this, why she continues to act like this, etc., and this makes his character all the better.

Have the writers ACTUALLY written characters to be unfavorable or eliminated?

I think this moment with Puffball might be the only exception. Very long story short, I feel as if the writers simply elevate traits of different characters, and it's seen as trying to sabotage their chances in the competition. I just can't see this ever happening in BFDI, but what do you thibk?

Come to think of it, why DOESN'T Leafy just give back Dream Island?

One of the times when I can actually use the Discussion flair for a post like this

I saw this theory on TikTok, and I wanted to elaborate on it as much as I could. Now, BFDIA shapes Leafy to be heavily dynamic-focused, as she was isolated after BFDIA 1 for stealing Dream Island. Afterwards, she tries connecting to the contestants much later in the game with her niceness and game tactics. She believes this is what can help win them over, so she's not seen in such a negative light by her peers anymore. Considering this point of view, Leafy returning Dream Island would effectively solve all of her problems. It's the reason she's so hated in the first place. Book even points this out in the scene this image comes from. She even SUGGESTS bringing back Dream Island for her own sake. But despite the clear positives this action would bring Leafy, she doesn't do it. The island clearly means too much to her, and further elaboration seems to be needed to explain this vendetta. What do you guys think?

What are your thoughts on Firey after BFDIA 25?

I already loved him before because of the sheer complexity of his character, combined with his humor. But BFDIA 25 was like the icing on the cake for me. It makes the Fireafy Arc even better!

TPOT 22 Overview is almost done! All of these final assignments are taking up my free time.

SHE SAID YES!

I gave her a note confessing my feelings, and she said she would love to get to know me better! She also said she likes my personality, and thinks I'm vert smart. I did it guys!

She even said "Love, [NAME]"

I honestly never thought I'd ever be able to experience something like this. I was fully prepared for rejection, and I got this!

Who would realistically place LAST in a TPOT rejoin?

I have a feeling it'd be Naily, but everyone has a solid fanbase these days, it's hard to tell.

A Little Update Concerning Myself

Mods, feel free to take this down if it's too off-tpoic to your liking.

So, I doubt anyone really noticed, but I've been posting less in general. I don't necessarily post daily as much as I did in 2025, and analyses + long discussion posts have been much slower in release.

As for the daily posts, it all really started when the leaderboards got removed. Now, I wouldn't say I generally cared about where I placed, because I really just posted daily for the love of the game. But when it got removed, whether I cared or not, it felt like a weight lifted off my shoulder, in a way. I realized that I had essentially forced myself to think of ideas to post every morning, whether I found them personally engaging or not. While I loved posting daily (and still do), I no longer make it a priority to always have something to post every morning, which is why I don't post AS MUCH as I used to.

As for analyses, some of you know I love making them. That is true. It's generally the most non-essential thing I look forward to doing the most after school. But, as someone who is in many advanced classes (I'm basically a 12th grader academically, but in reality, I'm a 10th grader), school has gotten so much harder. I'll also be entering classes on the college campus next year, and these classes are preparing me for that, so I've had bigger workloads than ever, and as expected, it leaves me less time to work on my analyses. I know. I made an entire roadmap promising to release most of it by the end of 2026. But that's looking harder and harder to achieve. The "Top 10 Most Overhated Characters" post was the first to appear on the roadmap; almost 7 months had passed between the roadmap's release and that analysis. I really am trying to work as hard as I can, but it's really difficult, to be honest. I'm not saying I plan on giving up, but my analyses (at least as far as I can tell as of today) will be sparser than I hoped.

To anyone who actually does follow me and my work, I truly do apologize for not upholding that promise. But I can say that I'm trying my hardest to keep up, and I've been easier on myself schedule-wise. Thank you for sticking with me for almost 2 years.

This will probably help the crew get more international screenings in the future!

That was fast. Only took 2 hours.

It shows theaters that BFDI is a topic of interest, and they can make money if they allow it in!
