How different is driving a 32-tonne 8x4 tipper compared to a standard 2-axle rigid?

I've only ever driven 18 ton 2 axle rigids, but am starting on tippers this week.

How much different are they to drive? Any pointers or things to look out for?

How often do you commute for work everyday?

My first job was 20 mins in the morning with no one on the roads and about 25-30 back in traffic.

Second one, the depot is one minute away from my house.

Just been offered another job, 45-50 minute commute everyday. Likely 50 hour week on class 2 Monday to Friday. What I'm worried about then is fatigue after a long day of driving and getting up early then driving home after work. I know a few night shift lads on artics in my area who travel over an hour to their depot and then and say they be fighting sleep on the way home - id say that's more an an effect of nightshifts though.

How far do you travel?

Experience with tippers, how is it?

Hi,

I've passed 5 months ago and been working multi drop food service.

I can't lie I am not enjoying it. Mostly down to company incompetency and not leaving the yard to late, being sent into busy city centers in the middle of the day, not being able to get parked near any drops and having to wheel heavy cages up cobble streets and pads etc.

I do enjoy the driving part the most.

I've been offered a job as a tipper.

Some people said it's a graft and you can be "worked into the ground".

In what sense? Long days? Pressure from office to go flat out all day? Id imagine it'd be a lot easier than multidrop food service

Anyone with experience how did you find it overall?

Three months on fin. Is it working? Second picture I'm just out of the shower also, and first pic is dry hair.
