I'm attempting the star blanket but I didn't follow Betty's YouTube tutorial and watched a different one. This is my progress so far but I don't know if it's actually working or I should try the original creators tutorial/pattern? I'd appreciate any help please, thank you!

Edit: Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate it! I have actually restarted it and I'm very happy that I did, it looks so much more better and my tension is not as loose now as well as the corners and points are more pronounced. Will upload a pic when more progress is done.

I have the pride and prejudice scene in the cartoon version and black and white. The cost for either of them is the same because I need to buy new yarn for the cartoon and I'd be paying a service for the black and white one as it comes with the written pattern too. As this is for someone else, I'm not too sure which option is best to go with?
