Iris is the next big shift
I actually asked about the next big shift in access control here a while ago, and I noticed iris didn’t really come up in the responses, which surprised me a bit.
Most of the discussion tends to land on mobile credentials, facial, or broader “identity on the move” concepts. Iris just doesn’t get mentioned as often, even though I think it’s going to be more relevant than people expect.
It feels less like a “replacement” for anything and more like another option in the mix for environments where you don’t want authentication to interrupt flow or rely too heavily on user action.
To me, the shift isn’t one modality taking over, but more a move toward layered, low friction identity verification depending on the environment.
Curious if others are seeing iris show up more in the field, or if it’s still pretty niche outside of specific deployments.
