Apologies to Sierra Ferrell after last night’s show in Paris

Context: Someone threw a cup toward the stage, and apparently someone also booed when Sierra spoke about her religious and philosophical beliefs. After her last song, she left the stage without an encore.

EDIT: Sierra spoke on her IG stories, she got in contact with the beer throwing guy. He apologized and pretty much explain that he got carried away by the excitement of « fox hunt » being played.
Seems like the event is now closed.

I’m French, a huge Sierra fan, and I honestly feel ashamed of that person’s behavior and the image it gives of France.

There were people from many different countries at the show, but I can’t help thinking the person responsible was probably French.

I didn’t personally hear the booing. As far as I could tell, everyone around me—and most of the crowd I could see—was having an amazing time. People were singing along, cheering, dancing, and giving both Sierra and the opening band a fantastic reception.

I did see the cup being thrown, but it only happened once. At the time, I didn’t think much of it because it’s unfortunately something you sometimes see at festivals, and from where I was standing it didn’t look like it was intentionally aimed at the band. It was incredibly hot in Paris, so I assumed it was just someone doing something stupid without thinking. Still, nobody wants to be splashed by a drink.

As for the booing, some people have said it happened right after Sierra mentioned Jesus. France has a long history of strong secularism and, for some people, hostility toward religion. I don’t share those views—in fact, I’m probably much closer to Sierra’s perspective—but that might explain why someone reacted that way.

One person’s behavior really spoiled the night for everyone. The audience seemed genuinely confused when she left without saying goodbye, and many people were disappointed. I’m glad she explained what happened on social media afterward.

I was so happy and proud that Sierra finally came to Europe. I’d been looking forward to this concert for months and had very high expectations, so it was heartbreaking to see it end like that.

That said, her performance itself was incredible. She sounds every bit as amazing live as she does on her records.
It’s just a shame that not feeling safe seemed to take away some of the interaction with the audience, because that’s one of the things that makes live music so special.

Despite everything, it was still a great show. The overwhelming majority of the crowd was having an incredible time, and I heard so many people around me talking about how stunned they were by Sierra’s talent and stage presence.

I really hope she decides to come back to Europe someday. If she does, I’ll be the first to buy a ticket.
