So, frame sliders or no? Engine covers or no? $600 drop protection worth it?
What's the general consensus on drop protection? I'm talking newbie drops at stops - not full crash protection on track.
- Some say do not use frame sliders, as they will crack your frame.
- Others say only use 2-point mounted ones like the Evotech or T-Rex Racing.
- Others say only Evotech because it has special materials to absorb damage to the frame.
- Others use cheap $25-$100 AliExpress Evotech knock-offs, and say it saved them without damage.
Which option do you prefer, Evotech for $320, T-Rex Racing for $160, or AliExpress knock-offs?
If you shouldn't use sliders, then what's the general consensus on engine covers?
- The GB Racing brand is $279.71 on revzilla.
- Puig has one in their catalog, $136.50 + Sales Tax - don't know where to buy.
- AliExpress has one for $29.97 from "GBRacing Flagship Store" which is claiming "BGRacing Official Store" with the trademark name, "60% Long Glass Fibered Nylon", and is AliExpress "Brand+ certified original".
If these AliExpress are knock-offs, then yes they probably use inferior materials, Nylon 6 instead of GB Racing's Nylon 66, as I read here discussed here on reddit and youtube comments. Also why GBRacing hasn't shut down this AliExpress store?
What would you put on your bike?
