Anyone have a scan tool that can plot brake data?
So there's been a lot of discussion and some wild speculation on here about efficiency of e-pedal, b mode, and generally braking/regen in the different drive modes and in adaptive cruise control. I currently use ECO mode because it allows me to actually coast, which is very difficult to do in any of the other modes. In my mind this allows me to reduce the round trip of energy through regen/battery/motor output, but I'm very curious about when the brake pressure is actually utilized.
What I haven't seen is anyone looking at actual brake line pressure data plotted with car speed and pedal positions. Clearly, the car is striving to get as much regen as it can, but maybe it is relying more on brake activation in some modes than others. Certainly in adaptive cruise, which is the only mode that will bring you to a complete stop, it probably has to resort to actual brake pads at low speeds - I highly doubt they are driving the motors like a servo at low speeds.
I have a couple obd scanners but they don't get live data from the brake system that I can plot. If I can find one, I'll do a study and illuminate the community once and for all on what exactly the system is doing (at least with my version of firmware). Anyone have an affordable scanner/app combo that I could get where I could do that, without buying a $3500 dealer tool?
