How much charge for 1 hr on DC fast?

im new to the EV thing. we’re planning a road trip from that’s about 300 miles in pleasant California weather. we figured we will need to stop halfway and try a dc fast charge for about an hour to make it the rest of the way. how much charge would that get us (generally speaking)?

New Tire Time?

Checking out my tires, I may be looking at some new ones in another 10k miles. I know there was a lot of chatter in here a year ago about Cross Climate 2 as a good replacement. Anyone install those and been running on them for at least 12months, if so how have they turned out?

Created a tool to help me figure out charging

So I use the EVIQO as my LV2 at home and was a little bummed to find out that you can't charge to a certain SOC option. Yes, I realize I should've done a little more research, but I was excited, and it seemed to be highly recommended. I didn't know what I didn't know at the time.

I know that isn't a big concern with the Ariyas (charging to only 80%), but I didn't want to guesstimate my charging. I used Claude AI to build a charging calculator and cost tracker because the EVIQO app kind of sucks. I was plugging in at 10 pm and letting it ride until 5:30 am.

I'm certainly no expert or anything, but I'm pretty happy with the results. I downloaded data from ABRP to help build the tool, and, of course, I added some other info to get the final result.

I am posting this because I am sure there are other people looking for little tips and tricks to maximize charging.

If I can do this, then you probably can too! If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them. For reference, I bought my Ariya at the end of March; it is my first EV, and I'm still learning a lot about being an EV owner.

EV system malfunction

This warning shows up consistently after car sits for about 24 hours in the garage. It only appears when the car is powering on, so not in READY mode. Dealer replaced the 12V battery but the problem is still there. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Loving our new Ariya and have two questions

Happy to be a new Ariya owner and join this community. We got a screaming deal on an incredibly clean 2023 Engage+ e4orce about six weeks ago... it only had 13k miles, still has about a year left on the factory warranty, and we got it for just under $23k. This is our first EV and it replaced an old Murano that we just about drove into the ground. I am absolutely loving almost everything about this car so far and do not miss the $95 fill-ups in the Murano. I can't figure out why it wasn't a better seller for Nissan because in my opinion it is a superior car to its competition in the Ioniq5, Mustang Mach E, and Tesla Model Y.

I do have two minor annoyances that I wonder if anyone else has thoughts on. First, the Engage trim doesn't have an automatic hatchback lift, and because the hatchback opens wider than our old Murano, we can't open the hatchback in our garage without hitting the rolled up garage door. This obviously isn't good for the garage door or the hatchback paint. Is the only solution to buy some aftermarket liftgate supports that have a shorter travel distance? Or can I attach something to the supports to shorten their opening distance?

Secondly, I have watched far too much content about proper high voltage battery management to extend battery life. The scientific consensus seems to be that, at least for the Ariya's NMC battery chemistry, the best practice is to keep the battery between 20%-80%, only charge occasionally to 100%, and limit the use of fast chargers. So I charge at home to 80% using a level 2 charger. Despite the built-in charge timer, it seems like a massive oversight from Nissan that there isn't an easy option in the software to allow for charging that cuts off at a specific battery percentage. This means every time I charge the car at home. I have to re-set the battery timer based on the number of hours that the time estimator says it will reach 80%. The estimator allows you to choose between level 1, level 2 and level 3 time estimates, but for level 2 it assumes that you are drawing the full 7.2kW. Because our charger is only on a 30amp panel and only draws 5.4kW, I have to either set the estimator to 7.2 and add a little time to what it estimates, or exit the car, plug it in and then get back in the car and set the timer when the estimator actually reads how much power is being drawn. Is there a workaround for this? I know Nissan isn't selling the car in the US anymore, but is anyone holding out hope that Nissan can or will release a software update that includes this feature? Thanks in advance.

Planning to buy my leased Ariya

When I leased my 2024 Ariya, I did so with the intention of returning it and leasing a new EV in 2 years time. As fast as the EV market had changed from 2022 to 2024, I hoped for similar change and the opportunity to upgrade to “the latest” in 2026.

That pace of change didn’t happen IMO but more importantly I really ended up liking my Ariya. Given there is no option (in US) to lease a 2026 Ariya, I’m 90% certain I’m going to buy my 2024 Engage+ e-4ORCE Ariya.

Because my lease vs buy mindset has shifted, any suggestions/gotchas/tips from those of you that have done the same? Obviously it’s the “used car I know” and I will still take advantage of the free end of lease inspection so I’m aware of anything that might need to be investigated/fixed.

Any and all tips appreciated!

When to charge?

I’ve had my Ariya since May. As a former gas girlie who usually rode it until the light came on and maybe started blinking, I’m still confused on when to I need to charge and what I can charge it to.

I don’t really charge often at home since there is a fast charger not too far from my house with a 15$ flat rate. What’s the absolute lowest I can go before I need to ride to the charger? I had been getting about 250-270 per charge when I charge to full like 98% but MAAAAANNN THIS HEAT is horrible 🥵

Finally got infotainment manually updated

I was stuck on LK3D in D/FW, Texas. First dealer I went to did nothing in 6 hours (Longhorn Nissan in Hurst), but Don Davis Nissan in Arlington was able to do it. I had opened a support case with Nissan and referenced that ticket number, meaning they had to try harder, and it took 2 days. I also reminded them to contact Nissan EV Support, which they did. They had to do 4 updates sequentially that took several hours each. (A USB stick was involved for some reason and the connection to Nissan is slow.)

So I have a battery header widget now that it's almost 100 degrees. :)

Maybe now I'll get future updates? I read that the 2027 Ariya has a different infotainment system, so I doubt there will be many more for earlier models.

Can’t figure out auto park or auto drive

I have a 2024 platinum. Any tips on getting the auto park to work. I idle in front of a back in spot like it says but the “start” option is still grey.

Also haven’t tried the highway autopilot cause I’m nervous has anyone tried it? Is it foot free and hands free ?

Is anyone else suddenly unable to turn OFF their wipers?

Background: I always leave the wipers on the rain sensing/automatic setting. It’s worked very well for me since getting the car, never a problem. Until this past weekend…

Was going to take the car through the local touch-free wash, there was a lot of rain and road dirt residue that I wanted to knock off. Before I got into the queue, I went through the usual pre-wash routine of turning off the auto-hold brake, checking the widows for all-up, checking the sun-roof, turning the wipers to “OFF” … and fail.

Flipping the stalk to “OFF” simply turn the wipers on. Regular speed, no intermittent, just on. Put the stalk back to auto, the wipers went off, pushed it back to off and… Full wiper action.

Went through the Vehicle settings, turned off the rain sensing, and no change. The OFF setting simply turn the wipers on. Turn the car off, went into the store for a cold drink, enjoyed cold drink, got back in the car turned it on… Same thing. Regardless of whether the rain sensing is on or not, flipping the stalk to the off position turns the wipers on regular speed. The other three positions… Intermittent/automatic, regular, high, all work as advertised. It’s just the off that no longer works. The “ wiper guidance” screen that appears on the dash confirms it is in the off position.

Because I generally leave the wipers in the automatic and rain sensing settings, except for situations like this, I have no idea how long this has been in effect. Has anyone else seen this behavior??

Bye Ariya

I said goodbye to my Ariya last week. 😭 Great car, owned it for less than a year.

I needed a truck for business and personal needs, so traded it in for a Chevrolet Silverado RST EV.

My wife prefers her Equinox EV to the Ariya. Proves that even after 40 years of marriage I still don't totally get her!

Group rules likely prevent my posting the link, but if anyone is interested in a low mileage, Platinum trim Ariya in Boulder Gray with Black roof, this one is priced to sell by the PA dealer I traded it to.

7/2 UPDATE: Salesman I dealt with texted me that it sold this afternoon. I told them it would sell quickly. Glad it worked out for the dealership, and somebody got a really nice car.

Big Bro with Little Sis (and Papa Smurf)

Surrendering my ‘23 Ariya Engage at the end of its lease in a few days and doing a slight upgrade to the ‘26 Leaf SV+. I’m losing HUD, along with a few inches of rear seat legroom and cubic feet of cargo capacity and gaining 15 kWh of battery, 75 miles of range, 360 camera, and NACS. Monthly payments and insurance are basically the same, purchase option on the Ariya just didn’t add up so now some other driver gets to enjoy a great deal on it. Wanted to get a picture of the siblings together, it might be tough times elsewhere for Nissan and EVs in general but it’s one big happy family here in our neighborhood (yes that’s my Mach-E in the back 😉)

Sleeping in Car/Camping

I'm planning on taking my car on a weeklong trip and sleeping out of it. I imagine it will be nice to have a sun shade in each window to block out light and give me privacy. Has anyone done something similar? Anything else you would recommend for this trip?

A word of warning re OEM vs AGM 12v battery

Lots of people on here recommend just replacing your crappy OEM 12v battery for an AGM. We were having battery problems with our car and we swapped it but continued having problems. I made an appointment with the dealer to get it checked out, and they said that because my battery was still under warranty but I’d swapped it out, they’d no longer cover the diagnostic appointment, and if it turned out that there were any issues at all with anything related to the battery, we would be on the hook for paying for those repairs. Luckily, I was able to go back to the store where I’d dropped off my old battery and get it back. I reinstalled it in the car and didn’t have to pay for the diagnostic. (They also didn’t fix anything - they just charged up the old battery and said if it happens again then they might be able to replace it under warranty.)

Anyway, I just wanted to let people here know that if your battery is still under warranty, you should keep it until your warranty runs out, even if you don’t have it installed in your car.

Mail order Ariya

I've seen people remark here that they had their used Ariya shipped to them from a far away dealer. In general, I have read that for used cars, you should test drive the specific car that you are planning on buying.

How did you guys mitigate risk if you bought it unseen? Was it because it was CPO? Did you ask for a battery health report or similar?

Thanks, this is an awesome community, btw !

What to do

Had my Ariya for almost a year, and a week upon purchase I had a 24/7 dash cam installed and tint.
Had no issues prior to end of March-early April where it was told to me that the 12V battery needed to be replaced so I did over a weekend under Man. Warranty. Issues still happened and I took it to the dealer I bought it from this time and they told me it was the AC/DC converter and probably a defective 12v battery. Took about 2 weeks for it to be complete and the dealer issues I posted on this sub, but it was working fine until today. I come back from a weekend trip to find the car dead; same issue as before.
Due to the nature of my work, I occasionally have to travel long distances and I have added about 15k miles since purchase and may not qualify for Lemon Law if this happens again after trying to get it fixed the third time; which I would hate to do because when it works it’s great!
I just don’t know what to do at this point and am asking y’all for help or information
