Any former Mach-e owners here?

I got a dealer offer to buy my lease on my Mach e out this week and have been considering it. Love the car for the most part aside from the suspension but really never considered buying it out after the lease expiration next November just due to residuals.

The Ariya is on my radar and wondered if anyone in here has experience with both vehicles?

Noise from A/C Unit when activated

Hello Folks,

I'm hoping you can confirm whether the noise I am hearing when turning on the A/C on my 2023 Ariya is normal or I should have it checked out. What I'm hearing is a loud click followed by a "brrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound sort of like a fan blade rubbing against some plastic.

I've attached a video if that helps.

Thanks - really appreciate the forum. It's nice to have a place to discuss this vehicle as I see so few of them on the street.

Ariya 12v Battery Charging Demystified - AGM Myth Buster?

A couple weeks ago I asked if anyone had tried installing a T.E.T. LFP battery I found on Amazon and since no one responded I decided to try it out myself. It’s actually cheaper than some AGM batteries found locally so I thought I’d give it a shot. So glad I did because its been an amazing eye opener for me mainly because of the intelligent battery monitoring system that’s built into the battery. I had a totally different picture of how I thought the Ariya DC-DC 12v charging system worked. As a mechanic/EE, I now completely understand why a common lead acid battery (AGM or flooded) will prematurely, FAIL in this car. I decided to do a live recording of my commute from work to show you how the Ariya handles the 12v battery. The video has my narration and is boringly informative for only the most techy elite. So far I’m extremely happy with this $209 LFP battery from Amazon.

Are the reduction gear issues resolved for MY 2024+?

Are the reduction gear issues resolved for MY 2024+? Curious as I've been comparing the Ariya against ID.4 (with APP 310 issues), Ioniq 5/EV6 (with ICCU issues), and Mach E (less mechanical issues I can find, but stiff suspension and cramped interior) . Thanks in advance.

Photo request

We just received our 2026 Ariya back today after it was in for repairs due to a rear-end collision. We will be calling the repair shop in the morning because the weather stripping seal around the trunk is torn. We also believe the back should be more flush against the frame. Unfortunately, we only had the car for three weeks before the accident, so we’re unsure what “normal” looks like. Could someone take a picture of their trunk area (similar to the one I posted) so we can compare it to ours?

2023 Lease Ending! Any recs for a new lease EV?

It's almost time for me to turn in my 2023 Nissan Ariya! Does anyone have any thoughts on what cars I should look into next? I'd love the idea of continuing with EVs, but am flexible!

Welp

Well after two years and zero problems with my '24 Evolve+ I decided to buy it last week. The day after I started getting th "service ev systems" warning. As of Friday it will no longer continue charging after about 5 minutes on the drip charger I got with the car. Which I have used with zero issues. Now the dealership wants me to leave it with them. Then say they dont have any loaner vehicles. I will probably miss a couple days of work because of it. Has this happened to anyone else, when they decide to purchase the car after leasing for two years?

Update: this afternoon the dealership called me and told me that they tested the 12v and it passed their OEM standard test. I guess now they look deeper. Update 2.0: the dealership says after further investigation it is indeed my traction motors! Both of them.

Trip Report - Ohio, USA to New Brunswick, Canada

Recently returned from a nearly 3,000 mile/5,000 km road trip and thought I’d report on how things are out there. We visited many places in Maine and also crossed over the border to see a few things in Canada. The tl;dr version is that EV road tripping is now generally very easy and doesn’t require extensive planning as it used to.

First, the good: It’s super nice being able to pull into Pilot/Flying J truck stops, simply plug in, and have the car automatically start while billing your EVGo account. These were definitely the easiest stops, although generally your food/shopping options are limited to what’s on site. We also really liked Ionna and Mercedes sites since the hardware is really good and there were more things around. The first hotel we stayed at had a bunch of AC chargers so we managed to fill up overnight.

Along those lines, I have really come to appreciate how well the Ariya DC Fast charges, at least in the summer. While peak power isn’t super high, the curve is truly excellent and we were never waiting around much on the car. Multiple times we came out of the restaurant or wherever with far more charge than needed, which is always nice.

Nothing was truly *bad*, but there still were a couple challenges. Once you get far into Downeast Maine, there’s not much in the way of DC fast charging. I brought along the Level 1 EVSE we use for our Bolt EUV at home and plugged into an outlet at the vacation rental. That got us the few extra miles we needed.

And the reason we needed those miles was because unfortunately public Level 2 charging is still quite unreliable. Of the four L2 stations we visited, only one of them was available and worked correctly. It’s even more frustrating because some of the stations require a bespoke app where you have to load money into an account rather than it billing you for what you actually use. Still uncertain if we can get our $20 back on that.

DC Fast charging has improved immensely in the last couple years, but there were still two stations that had hiccups. The first was an Evolve NY station in Syracuse that worked OK but only put out ~70 kW even though we were at 15% SOC. The second was a ChargeSmart station near Buffalo where the credit card reader was completely unresponsive. I managed to activate it thru the ChargePoint app since they have a roaming agreement, but when a F-150 Lighting joined us, the station stopped delivering any power (see last photo). This might have been acceptable in the past, but I’m a bit disappointed a newly installed station is so buggy.

Still overall it was a great trip. Acadia is great to visit, although quite crowded in spots. I also didn’t realize how beautiful Atlantic Canada is, and we definitely want to go back. Let me know if you have questions!

Part number question: Negative Terminal part number for 2023 Ariya

Solved: 244G07LT0A Battery Current Sensor

Looking for part number for the negative terminal on a Nissan Ariya 2023. Common fail point of the series, as I'm realizing.

The part number my service quoted was for the Battery Ground Strap, which seems to be the part before this, but I didn't know if they were bundled…

All other potential parts have no images on the Nissan parts site.

Pre cooling the Aryia

Hey guys so Claude tells me that while charging start the remote AC for 10 minutes which would cools the cabin and the battery without using the system’s own functions. I shared that with a coworker that also has an Aryia he began arguing with me saying that that’s ridiculous and the car is still using the 12V battery to run the AC. Not only that. Running the charger while turning the AC might damage the vehicle.

What do you guys think?

Aftermarket Stereo in Ariya

I'm shopping for EVs and the Ariya came up as a potential choice. Has anyone installed an aftermarket stereo system?

Lots of reviews say even the Bose stereo isn't that great. So I'm thinking I could get a 2023/2024 Evolve+ and use the saved cash from the Platinum trim to get aftermarket installed. I don't know much of anything about aftermarket stereos, but I imagine for $1000 US, I could get what I need and professional install.

None of the other features in the Platinum+ are must-haves, and I'm thinking my kids would trash the leather seats and I would get seat covers for the back anyways.

The loss of 5 miles in range on the Platinum+ is also a bit of a bummer, since the range on the e4orce is already dwindling to mid-range to start with.

Do NOT buy Sonsio Vehicle Protection.

The dealer (Echo Park in Texas) REALLY pushed me to buy a Sonsio Tire Protection plan. Well, I finally needed it. I got a screw in a tire that needed repairing, and the Nissan dealer charged me $40. But, the Sonsio website just doesn't work. It let me log in but would not let me submit a claim. I tried calling Sonsio to file a claim, but I just got met with an out-of-hours message even though I was calling within their business hours. THEN, I called a different number to cancel the contract and just got sent to voicemail. What a terrible business. This is just a scam to get people's money and never pay out claims.

Edit: I'm an idiot. I WAS calling out of business hours. However, their website is still jank and doesn't work. I'll try calling again when my work allows and update if I have success, but this is still really annoying business practice.

NACS Adapter

I see Nissan has a NACS adapter for $165 (I think). I also see a lot of adapters on Amazon for a lot less and also somewhat smaller. Are these others okay to use with the Ariya? Any suggestions for a good reliable adapter for a reasonable price?

Nissan NACS adapter work with all Tesla chargers?

I thought only a few Tesla chargers were opened up for cars not manufactured by Tesla, does the adapter open up most Tesla Chargers to ARIYA?

Wheel insert kit

Has anyone bought the wheel insert kit? It looks like you take off the aero covers and this kit covers the spokes on the rim so it looks finished. Does that sound right?

Using the ariya evse

Just got my 2023 Ariya and had a question about the evse that came with it. I have a 30 amp 240v outlet in my garage. If I get an adapter to go from the 14-50 plug on the evse to the 30 amp outlet, will the evse just draw 30 amps or will it try to pull 50 amps and overload the circuit?

Service Costs

I have a 2024 Ariya ENGAGE e-4ORCE. I bought it used it used with just about 3K miles on it. I was told that I had the remainder of the factory warranty. I'm not sure what that is - and my local Nissan is less than forthcoming/helpful. Also, I just brought the car in for it's 15,000 mile service and it was over $550!!!! My friend has had a Tesla for 8 years and, excluding tire rotation, hasn't paid that much in any "service"/filter change TOTAL in all the time that he has owned his car. Can someone help me understand?
