Loses voice directions

When using maps for navigation, it will sometimes just stop giving voice directions. It usually happens after I miss a turn or two. It's like the voice gets frustrated because I didn't follow directions, so it just shuts up. It will reroute, but just won't tell me where to go. (I think maybe it would like to tell me to go to H, but is too polite to do so.)

NACS Adapter

I see Nissan has a NACS adapter for $165 (I think). I also see a lot of adapters on Amazon for a lot less and also somewhat smaller. Are these others okay to use with the Ariya? Any suggestions for a good reliable adapter for a reasonable price?

Using the ariya evse

Just got my 2023 Ariya and had a question about the evse that came with it. I have a 30 amp 240v outlet in my garage. If I get an adapter to go from the 14-50 plug on the evse to the 30 amp outlet, will the evse just draw 30 amps or will it try to pull 50 amps and overload the circuit?

Locating charging stations

New to EVs and planning a trip. I have downloaded a variety of apps to locate charging stations, including plugshare, ea, abrp, and charge point. I also have my Nissan and Google maps. I have not found any that reliably show all the stations in an area. Each of them seem to miss some stations that other show.

So what do you use? Am I missing an app that shows them all? How do you plan a trip if you can't rely on finding good stations?

By the way, I am located on West Coast US

How to stop driver seat from moving when opening door

I have a 2023 Ariya Evolve. I have tried to find the answer in the 600+ page owners manual, but have failed. Right now, the drivers seat moves back automatically when I open the drivers door. This is a real problem for anyone in the back seat. I am sure there is a way to turn off that feature, but so far am unable to find it.

Anyone here know the answer?

Nissan Extended Warranty

Hi All,

I am looking at getting a 2023 Ariya with mileage possibly over 36k. As such the bumper to bumper warranty will be expired or very close to expiring. Because of all the tech in these cars I am considering getting the extended Nissan warranty, but can't find anything in their literature about getting the warranty after the original warranty has expired.

Anyone here know if that is possible? Do you need to get it when you buy the car, or can you wait?

Questions from a potential owner

Hi All,

I am considering buying a 2023 ID4, but have a few questions.

  1. What exactly does a CPO provide? Is it a longer bumper to bumper warranty, or just drive train?

  2. Should I get a pre purchase inspection? Where should I go for it? Can a regular garage do it, or should it be done by an EV tech?

  3. What trouble points should I be looking out for?

  4. Does the ID4 have a liquid cooled battery thermal management system? Does the system work while the car is parked in a hot climate?

  5. Can you manually start battery preconditioning, or is it only automatic while navigating to a charge station?

  6. Can the charging be limited to a set percentage like 80%, or does it only charge to full?

I think that's it for now. Thanks for your help.

One pedal driving questions

I understand that the Ariya does not have true one pedal driving because it does not come to a full stop. However, if on cruise control in stop and go traffic, will it come to a full stop? If so, will it stay on cruise control and start moving again when traffic starts moving. Also, will the cruise control disconnect if stopped for a short time. My Murano will come to a full stop, but the cruise control disconnects after 2 or 3 seconds if the traffic doesn't start moving.

Range questions from an EV noob

Hi, I want to start by saying this post is not asking for purchase advice, only information about road tripping. I don't have an EV yet, but am considering a Nissan Ariya or maybe a VW ID.4. I am in the US. I am planning a trip from Portland OR to Palm Springs CA in October. Using ABRP, it estimates 5 charging stops over about 1100 miles. For the most part the stops are charging from 10% to maybe 60%. However, one stop is from 3% to about 60%.

If my car has an 87kw battery and gets about 3 miles/kw, driving to 10% would leave about 8.7kw, or only about 24 miles left in the battery. 3% would leave only about 8 miles. Do people really run their batteries so low? With my ICE car on a road trip, I usually try to fill up before getting below about 60 miles left.

Another question. ABRP estimates about 500kw for the trip, if I am reading it correctly. At $0.50/kw average cost of DC charging, electric cost would be about $250. With my ICE car getting about 30mpg and gas at about $4.50/gallon, the fuel cost would be only about $165, nearly a $100 savings.

One of the reasons for getting an EV is for the fuel savings, but based on the above, it doesn't seem to be true for road trips. Do EV drivers just suck it up, or am I missing something?

I am planning to keep the car at our CA winter home, so I would not be making this trip on a regular basis. Perhaps it would be better to ship the car and fly down, and save the cost of fuel, food, and hotels. Has anyone shipped their EV? Do car transport companies know how to safely handle EVs?

Thanks for any advice.

Any info about evercar.com

I came across this website and wondered if anyone has used it. It looks like it is similar to carvana or carmax, but dedicated to evs. Does anyone know more about it?

Where are my files?

I have a lot of files in Google Drive. I was told I should use Google One, so I installed it on my S24. When I open it, all I see is ads for getting more storage, and ads about all the benefits of it. It also offers ways to clear space. However, I don't see any of my files, although it does report the correct size and usage of my Google Drive account, so it is somehow connected to Google Drive.

I was under the impression that it was a better way to access my uploaded files. Am I missing something here? What does it offer over and above what I can do with Google Drive, if anything? And how to I get to my files in Google One?

Thanks for any help

Meatloaf?

My wife showed me a facebook photo of a meatloaf done on the NWFG. Unfortunately, the poster did not provide any specifics. It said it was smoked, but appeared to be in the fryer basket. Anyone here have good experience making meatloaf on the NWFG, and would like to share some specifics?
