Ok guys, Stromanthe Triostar

Ok guys, Stromanthe Triostar

NOT MY PHOTO — this is just a screenshot from google I have one arriving today… is this really part of the prayer plant family? If so I’m nervous lol. Any tips on care would be so appreciated! I just want her to thrive and live her best life 🫠

Ok wait

WAY too stoked lol. Prayer Plants are the “hard ones” for me… but I cut some dying parts off one of em, and not only are they thriving now but already have been growth (leaves and a stem, I think..!?!).
Just sharing cuz I’m stoked. 🫠🫶

Got a deal! I think lol

New-ish to plants, not a ton of knowledge, but I pointed out this one seems to have a slight mealybug infestation and got it for $7! Mostly just stoked, but added the “help” flair cuz I wanted to ask what you all have had the best luck with as far as treating mealybugs? TIA!

Ok so I saw the bugs in soil,

Edit: TL;DR — super tiny, white, fast crawling ones. At one point black specks on back of leaves, too. Thrips, maybe?
Or did I just throw a plant out for soil mites? 😑 halp, plz. 🥲

I attached photos from this morning of the damage they caused. I’ve been using neem oil solution by for a few days or so, thinking it was thrips or something. Idk. They were very very tiny, white circular bugs and very fast crawlers for how tiny they were. Any idea what kind of pests are causing the damage?

For now the plant is double bagged tied up outside — idk if it’ll be coming back in. Any advice on how to get rid of whatever it is in case they’ve spread is also welcome. 😭 freaking out.
Usually in a west facing window for light and water it when the top of soil is dry, thought maybe it was something I was doing wrong (treated w neem just in case), but then I saw the bugs. Ugh.

Anyone know what causes this

That darn brown spot… it came like that, tbh idk for sure if it’s gotten bigger but seems like maybe? It’s dry to the touch, right best to a brown cut of sorts almost in an m shape above it to the left. It’s one of the prettiest leaves on it, really hoping I can save it / it won’t kill it 🥲

Brown spots

So I looked back at a photo from the listing I bought this from and 90% certain all the leaves were flawless.. what are these brown/black spots from? One of the leaves looks like it’s “eaten away” some of the leaf if that makes sense. Sigh. 😔

Sits in front of / next to a west facing window (/giant glass slider door) so gets sufficient sun, pot does have good drainage and I water when soil seems like it needs it. Will switch to filtered water cuz I’ve heard it can be sensitive to that but ya. I just want it to be healthy again🥲

Ok so

Got this prayer plant 🪴 a bit ago (like less than two weeks) and it came in this pot. I think I found *one* drainage hole, going into the bottom plate part which is attached permanently. All one piece. The soil seems to stay wet just, way way too long.. and I’ve noticed gnats assembling at the base / maybe in soil? Idk. Should I repot for better drainage? There’s quite a few damaged leaves and a couple droopy maybe-beginning-to-yellow ones not pictured, but yeah. Thoughts/opinions/advice plz 🤓

Already looking droopy. I’m a complete and total noob, just fyi.. but is this potentially just transplant Shock/adjusting or is it doomed to wither away? Or is it too soon to tell that? lol. Any advice on how to make it feel better? ❤️‍🩹 so far on counter with indirect light and it’s gotten watered once. Currently has succulent soil cuz, well, that’s all I had.
