Thoughts on name changes
Hi everyone, my fiancé and I are doing our legal ceremony in a few months and I’m still on the fence about if I want to change my last/family name when we get married.
On the one hand, I like my name as it is, but on the other hand my family shared the same last name growing up, and so I guess I feel some sort of attachment to that tradition.
The options I’d be considering are 1. hyphenating my last name with my partner’s name or 2. putting our names together into a new name or 3. just keeping my name as is.
I’d love to hear about what other people have done and how it felt to them. Or what other people are debating between and how you’re thinking about it. Or even logistical consequences of changing/not changing your last name.
Any thoughts I’m sure will help me sort out how I’m feeling. Thanks 😊
