This is a pretty small story and maybe hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, but I’m curious what Tangle’s or others views on this house race primary thoughts are.

For anyone who doesn’t know, a guy named Tom Smith who dropped out of the race I believe a month in advance, but because he wrote a hand written letter through snail mail it didn’t get to the state in time so his name was still on the ballet, won over the Trump backed, Christian candidate who had all the funding named Amir Hassan in the republican primary.

I know what I think of why Tom Smith won, but I’m curious if others have more in-depth knowledge or a different point of view?

This situation is Houston is disgusting. I know we are still waiting on video footage, but it seems like the ICE agents weren’t wearing body cams which I understood as mandatory at this point. That makes me nervous that we will never fully understand what happened besides what DHS has stated which we have seen time and time again is not truthful.

I understand from the footage and reporting that the van was driving away, maybe even recklessly, but the individual was being chased by at least two unmarked cars, which is an insane practice that I don’t know how it’s legal. I see now that DHS or a representative is saying that the individual wasn’t even the one targeted originally.

This whole thing is just another reason why I have little faith in this country and the direction we are going. There is no accountability on these agents or the agents from Minnesota. This current administration will not hold them accountable and it’s disgusting.

Even if you think getting illegals out of the country is the right thing to do, people have to admit that these tactics and ICE agents need to be held accountable.

This is probably a smaller story and not worth the attention, but a family member (MAGA, Trump can do no wrong) told me yesterday that Mamdani asking his constituents to put their AC to 78 degrees to not overload the power grid is communism. I hadn’t heard of this story before that moment and I was in shock that someone would believe that, so all I could say was that’s not communism, that’s just energy policy.

They got defensive and changed the topic because we are on opposite sides of the political spectrum and have fought before, but I guess I just don’t even know where to go from here. Like how do I have a conversation with them? Like just a standard energy policy that all mayors on both sides have done in the past is now communism.

They weren’t joking either. They made a comment about wanting to see all the people who voted for Mamdani set their thermostats to 78 and that they were sure people would get fined for not doing it. I’m just so confused how someone could even get here and am looking for advice here, which may not be the Tangle subreddit, but wanted to share.

So, anyone got any advice on how to bridge this gap?

Now that the MOU is signed, can we all agree that this is just a worse version of the JCPOA without the nuclear review capability and with more money going to Iran?

I know the nuclear program is still under discussion for the next 60 days in a “negotiating period”, but Iran doesn’t have a reason to not pursue a nuclear weapon now.

I don’t know how else to look at this MOU as anything other than a failure for the US. We met zero pre war conditions and Iran now thinks the strait of Hormuz is their territory and will probably charge fees when our fleet leaves.

So after reading today’s article, I agree with Issac that this is a good thing, but my question is, what is the catch? There’s always a catch with the government giving out money and Trump always has to get his. He doesn’t do anything for anyone else unless it benefits him.

Is it something that affects my taxes this year? My wife is pregnant and due in November, so we will qualify, but I am just confused. Is it actually a free $1,000 and I just need to register the kid (don’t know gender) and it won’t affect my tax return next year?

What’s the catch?

Can tangle cover what is happening at Delaney Hall in Jersey? I hadn’t heard of this story before last night and I think it would have been a more interesting topic to cover and bring attention to than the DNC autopsy (which as a left leaning individual is just another embarrassment of the Dems that didn’t bring any new information about the Democratic Party forward).

Nothing against Tangle’s coverage on the autopsy but I haven’t heard much about Delaney Hall and it has been going on for I think almost a week now? I think this would be interesting to talk about along with the arrests of ICE agents from Minnesota. Just an idea or maybe people in this reddit group can talk about it here. Just wanted to bring some awareness.
