City staff recommend rejection of Victoria complex with 27-storey tower

I’m struggling to understand why city staff wouldn’t recommend it when 32-storey and 23-storey towers have already been approved in the same neighbourhood. Feels like this project fits the direction downtown Victoria is already heading in. Hoping council sees the value in it and gives it the green light.

Sally’s at Douglas+Cormorant

Hi Victorians! I’ve always loved the old Sally’s neon sign on the corner of Douglas and Cormorant and was curious if anyone knows what’s finally going into that space. It feels like it’s been sitting vacant and up for lease forever, and now the windows are all papered over.

Part of me is secretly hoping for a proper NY-style deli à la Russ & Daughters in Manhattan… though I’m probably dreaming. Still, a guy can hope.
Mostly just hoping they keep the neon sign as part of whatever comes next. Does anyone have any intel on the new opening?
