Being accused of not doing work

I am a legal assistant and the big thing that I focus on is client case management and I’ll help the paralegals on occasion.

The other month, my manager had a meeting with me and discussed what I do. I don’t have a lot of billable time due to me keeping up with case management, so he was grilling on me. I was honest with it and I gave him a whole list of things of what I do. After that meeting I started to ask around my peers and attorneys to see if anyone needed help or had time to teach me new things. Everyone said that they would let me know but no responses which I kept asking.

Last week, my manager comes in and asked me what I do…as if I didn’t give him a large list and then he called me a liar. Every time I would explain myself he would shut it down and it felt like gaslighting. It was out of the blue and I was scared that I was going to lost my job. Apparently management started to hyper fixate what I do and didn’t like how I was doing them but didn’t communicate anything to me. I don’t understand how everything I said was forgotten

Tbh I never liked the job, but now I dread coming in. Management has never been consistent and I’m thinking about aborting ship because I can’t do this

Is this normal behavior?

Law Firm Jump

I work in a boutique law firm, it was the first job I got after college and been here for two years. I hate it a lot so I have been searching. I don’t want to quit until I am able to find a job.

I am a legal assistant and I am thinking of possibly applying for 9/11 dispatcher position. I understand that it is a huge jump from the corporate sector but I can’t stand it anymore.

Has anyone have experience as a 911 dispatcher or even recommended it? Overall thoughts and concerns are appreciated

When do you know it’s time to jump ship?

Currently, my corporate job is understaff. I think at one point we had 30 people on our team and a year passed we are with 10 people and most of that being upper management instead of admin. The admin team consists of myself and two other people and we are feeling the stress. One of my managers was drilling me last week about my workload and wanting to know what I do. You would think my manager and leadership would know…but besides the point the environment feels toxic. I’m scared of leaving without a plan but I think it’s probably good for me to leave.

what would you do if you were in the situation or any advice if you were in a similar situation would be helpful
