Switching jobs
Before I ask for advice, I want to say that I’m genuinely grateful for the role I have today and the stability it brings. At the same time, I feel ready for something more aligned with where I want to go.
I have 9 years of banking experience across three continents and currently earn $120K. I’ve been in my current role for about 2 years, with no bonus or salary increase, and the commute is about 2 hours each way. I’m now focusing on opportunities in downtown Toronto.
Over the past month, I’ve been actively applying. About 10% of my applications have been rejected so far, while most are still sitting in “under review” or “application received.” Given my background as a strategy consultant, I feel my experience is strong—but I’m not seeing the traction I expected.
I’d really appreciate any advice on what I could be doing better.
