Have anyone settled credit cards with USAA for less than the full amount and were able to get another credit card for them years later?
Have anyone settled credit cards with USAA for less than the full amount and were able to get another credit card for them years later?
Good day everyone,
I had my Chapter 13 converted to a Chapter 7 because my car was totaled and it was the only creditor I was paying in my bankruptcy. I got the final disbursement letter and it said I paid 2,606 dollars in the 6 months I was in Chapter 13 but only 160 dollars went to my creditor. Are you telling me over $2400 went to the attorney and trustee in 6 months? Does this seem correct? I had to pay the attorney an extra 900 to convert. I'm just not understanding this and it doesn't seem legit.
Has anyone experienced this? If so, reply with your experience.
Side note: I do understand that paying 3500 is better than paying the near 70K I was in debt but it just seems odd to me.
I had a death in the family and had to go out to town. I left my car at home with the keys in my game room. My roommate drove my car without my permission and ran into a ATT Fiber box. My auto insurance isn't saying much but they have asked me to sign a limited power of attorney, and added my roommate to my auto policy (it went up triple in the middle of my current policy). This makes me believe my auto insurance is going to cover damages, and that my car is totaled.
My current Chapter 13 payment is $450 for 36 months. The only thing I'm paying for is my car and Attorney/ Trustee fees. If I'm offered $19,000 for the total cash value of my car and my total payments (36) is $16000. Will this close out my Chapter 13? Or will they ask me to pay the other creditors who are getting nothing, something now? Has anyone experienced this? How did it work out for you? I reside in GA.
