Looking to start fishing here in the bay. What’s a couple things I need?

I am going to get a 7’ ozark trail grit stick for pier fishing, and I’ve heard about carolina rigs and pompano jigs, and things like that.

What do you use to sit and wait for a fish? I’m not very good with jigs.

Is bass pro a good shop for saltwater?

If you had to catch something other than a panfish, what would you throw?

at this point, I have no struggle catching panfish, it’s fun and all but I need something different and bigger.

throw whatever ya got at me, lures, live bait, just what works for you! I don’t have much friends and family that know about fishing, so I’m on my own.

I see so many people say bass will eat anything you drag through the water. If so, why have I done that so much but never caught a bass??

I have caught 20 fish in my life, all of which were panfish. I‘ve heard bass are dumb, will eat anything, etc.. But I have never caught a bass in my life! I’ve been fishing for 2.5 months and can consistently catch panfish, but obviously not bass.

i don’t want to use worms, bluegill or shiners since bluegill are regulated near me, I don’t wanna buy shiners and worms could get eaten by panfish.

what are the basics for bass? Where, when, what lure, how do I fish it?

and of course I have tried all the basic bass stuff. senkos, wacky, Texas, Carolina, and crankbaits, frogs, spinnerbaits, inline spinners, flukes, you name it.

please help! I need to break this endless cycle of mine, without forcing down hours of twitching senkos off the bottom for nothing to happen, knowing it.

I can’t find very general rules on where to cast. Also how to identify what kind of water you are at. Any help?

So I can’t find any clear guides about where to fish (as in at a water), and I feel like that is holding me back.

How do I know where the bass are spawning? What about the bluegill or trout?

More asking about spring, because fish spawn at that time.

I wasn’t taught a specific way to fish. Not taught at all, in fact. What were you taught as a kid, or by a friend? Asking as advice, I am generally lost.

So I didn’t grow up being taught how to fish and I don’t know if that’s the norm but most content I see is just about lures and tying rigs, not how to catch a fish once your at the lake.

i can cast, reel in, setup a rod and reel, tie knots, etc…

but what is hones embarrassing and ironic at the same time is that I just don’t know how to use anything on the end of my line,

the only thing I’ve ever caught was a bluegill, literally using just a worm on the end of a tiny hook near a dock.

(For mostly freshwater fishing, my target is bass but I don’t really care what I catch, I fish at a lake thats frequently stocked)
